upgrade advice needed 4870x2 to ?

So glad you pointed out the spelling mistake why the  after?,is it a crime in your eyes for people to make a simple mistake, has it even entered you brain some people simply struggle with spelling more than others

These forums would be lost without you going around checking peoples post for mistakes wouldn't they.

The "" simply denotes confusion and or a question, notice the question marks above its head? :)

At least you now know it's "definitely", "defiantly" means something completely different. :)

well you could sell the 4870x2 to help your budget

there's def something wrong somewhere if u cant do bf2 at 1680 @ max.

try disable that process then fire up bf2?

log into default admin and try fire up bf2 from there?

BC also likes a quad from what i hear, it was never perfectly smooth on my dual core and that clocked to 3.8, i would not be paying for a 470 with a dual core unless clocked to at least 3.4, it will hold you back in a lot of games

I suggest a 460 and OC on your dual core

3d gaming is very taxing from what i hear and you need a very high end system to get decent results

Your 4870x2 is bottlenecked by that CPU i had a E5200 @ 3.8Ghz and it was bottlenecking the card the day i got a core i7 @4ghz the frame rate actually tripled.

OK FRAPS installed and BF2 run at 1680x1050 120Hz

I would say Average 30 FPS on all setting to high and with Vehicles in the screen it drops to 15 :(

Should I install ravatuner and OC the card? but my main point is to run the game in 3D so I think an upgrade is due anyway. How about a 470 and overclock it ?

I think that may be my problem, but any how I want to give 3D vision a go so I will sell this card and get a GTX4XX

If you're being bottlenecked, overclocking your GPU isn't going to improve anything.

Your card is playing up.

You'll go from bad to worse esp with 3d vision you can't run thease Gpus on low end cpu the 4870x2 is very fast card even now it'll eat anygame @ 1980x1080 but you need a good cpu for it the 4870X2 is well known for needing a fast CPU to get the most out of it get a Core i5 760 and you'll be surpised how fast your 4870x2 is. :)

well need to sort out the background processes and OS first.

even if the cpu is bottlenecking in some games, it surely wont take him down to 15-30 in bf2 at 1680 resolution. something major is at fault and I don't know without further info.

oh dear, that will be expensive upgrade new mobo, new cpu, new ram :P

will I be able to gain advantage with a 80 pounds Qxxx 775 CPU and overclock that?

I think the background process is sorted, the mcbuilder.exe seems to be microsoft file indexing thingy. I have a network storage and it try to index the 1TB system from time to time.

what PSU you running? unless you're sure that your OS is absolutely clean, i'd do a reformat and reinstall windows. unless (again) you know what you're doing and can clean the OS manually.

has your 4870x2 ever been "fast" ?
