TEMPUR Mattress

Well they are cheaper!!!

The good lady found a few review sites and the like that had people on there who had bought a Ergoflex and had a tempur before... Wasn't going off of Ergoflex's marketing ;)

Never scrimp n save on mattresses. I own a pair of top end tempur pillows and love them to death. They've got a cooler material on one side so they help during hot summers.

Never tried a mattress though :(

I can just about see the justification for paying over a grand for a Kingsize mattress but I really can't see any way on earth that a single pillow can cost somewhere between £65 & £110

Don't you end up feeling like a packaged figurine in a polystyrene box?

We tried one and it felt very unnatural - you sort of sink into it slowly.
Bit disappointed as I was a excited about the futuristic experience of revolutionary bedding.

Bought a good quality traditional mattress instead.

For those who did buy - how do you find 'intimate' relationships on them? Be like trying to wade through quick-sand I would have thought.

- Guess you have to keep moving...

Pure memory foam does indeed make things difficult, no bounce back means you get very tired very quickly.

This is why pocket sprung with a topper is ace, BOING!!

I did a lot of reading on these before I replaced an old matress, you have listed the main points,

also people reported bad backs after using them for a while... (but others said it made theirs better)

I went for a 2000 pocket sprung very hard matress instead (i dont know if there is a stardard measurement of hardness but the matress I have is the hardest the shop had)

it is VERY comfortable for me and my partner...

possibly the best £1000 i have ever spent
indeed sprung base + really good sprung mattress =win

I had one spent one very uncomfortable night on it and sent it back. Ordered a decent sprung matress and have slept soundly ever since...

i bought a super king size Tempur deluxe after trying it out in the shop (got it on sale for £1799), after a few nights i found it too warm but extremley comfortable , the wife loves it and she does not find it too hot.

I did the same thing. Shop around and play the price match game and you can knock 100s of £ off the price.

For those that like a softer feel deluxe is the way to go ;)

Either way buy the mattress protector as it substantially reduces the overheating issue, although the newer thicker mattresses have much better ventilation anyway.

We bought one off the bay not TEMPUR but still high density foam for about £300. the best money ever spent. We got a 10 inch thick which is 6 inch High density foam and 4 inch normal foam. I fail to see how a TEMPUR can be any more comfortable.

Yep stank for about 3 days.

4 yrs on we still get in bed every night and say" I love my bed"

The biggest downside is it takes 3-4 days to get used to a new bed on holiday.

Those who gave theirs up within a few days have missed out.
I havn't had problems with sciatica in 4 yrs.

Not had a problem with overheating.

Had a 'phone call from someone at Tempur today. She asked whether I was planning to buy a Tempur and whether she could give me any further information. When I said that I was planning to buy an ErgoFlex, she talked me into taking a Tempur on a 60 night home trial.

There are a few "gotchas"
  • you only have until the end of November to get free delivery
  • you must pay the full value of the mattress upfront
  • you MUST keep and use the mattress for 60 nights in order to get used to it
  • the mattress must be undamaged when it is returned
However, if after a month or so, you decide that you don't like the mattress, you can return it for a full refund after 60 nights.

Worth a go for a £2k mattress? :)

Currently got a ergoflex mattress, the quality is very good and it's very heavy for a mattress.

It's also a very firm mattress, so if you like something little softer I would avoid at all cost.
