Hi all, now im in two minds wether to change things up abit on the fat burning front, i would usualy put this in the gym rats thread but I rarely get a response, which do you prefer or would it be best for me to keep at doing my swimming/rowing etc after weight training.

I can't remember the science behind AM fasted cardio. The science behind pwo cardio is that glycogen has already been used up during resistance training and as such your body burns fat sooner than if it were fresh.

However there's a strong argument for AM cardio but as I said can't remember the logic of it. I'm sure you're capable of googling it :)

I read that doing AM cardio on an empty stomach means the body will use fat as fuel or something along those lines, i do post workout cardio though.

Am fasted hiit is a no no imo, too taxing on the body.
Am fasted steady state cardio is good, if I could drag myself out of bed I'd do it again myself.

While ive got a few of you here, my kre aklyn is coming today from my protein, states 1-2 caps before training and 1-2 after. Unless im some hench mess im guessing i should go for 1-1 for now?

And that's why we love you, you freak :p
Do you do it fasted?!

I do a 15min skipping session in the summer before even eating breakfast - but I'll get up at 600am (earlier if I need to be somewhere early) then have a nice biiiiig breakfast! :D  Winter time I do sports more than HIIT.

SS is absolutely brilliant fasted though, but I don't particularly care for SS :o

See, freak :p
Now what you mean about breakfast afterwards! Fasted cardio makes me very hungry!

so some of you guys go gym in the morning to do cardio... and then go again in the evening to do weights?

I just dont have the time or enough clean clothes to go twice a day.

I usually do evening, weights then cardio. Mixture of HIIT and SS.

Also, in the evening I just seem to have tons my energy.

Of couse, i probably could go twice a day if i didnt have a job.

I never do any cardio after weights as I can hardly move after a session and it's just not conducive to improvements to me. Everyone is different, and as mentioned glycogen stores will be low - however, the effort of cardio after a 90 min session is too much for me.

As for the training 2x a day, well it's not that tough, or you can do your cardio on your days off... I just do it in a pair of short and a t-shirt. When I go to the gym, tracksuit bottoms, tshirt and sweatshirt. I do a wash 2x week, and have plenty of sports clothes. It's not a biggy. I make time though as it's part of my life. :)

Morba - I just love this **** too much! :o As for breakfast, this morning = 1040 cals :D :D :D

For me? Somewhat, because I like to push myself. As a warm up, then I wouldn't reall call it cardio ;)

If you feel up to it, after a workout is ok, but bear in mind your body has just been through a lot hence why splitting it up during the day or doing it on separate days generally, works better (for me).

For the most effective use of your time, pre food AM will give you the biggest results in terms of bang for bucks. :)

Yeah, your right. Sometimes I just feel I want to do it all. Even though sometimes I feel im about ready to collapse. So silly.

To the point I can't decide which is more important, showering or eating? As I usually totally hum to the high heavens after a sweaty nights sleep and some SS. Gag worthy sometimes. :p

As for the twice a day when I was at uni it wasn't really a problem as I had nout to do most the time. However now I've finished and have to be at my desk for 7:15 the gym only opens at 6:30 so for the 15-20 minutes it's just not worth getting up earlier for me! I can go again after dinner if need be.

Wouldn't have a problem if I started later, infact last summer I quite liked some cardio in the morning before work as I wasn't yawning at my desk all morning.
