Actor to play Nathan Drake in Uncharted movie is....

I doubt many people have heard of this Nathan Fillion person (I had to IMDB him). I guess he is well known on a forum such as this due to being in this cult/sci-fi show called Firefly/Serenity.

Personally, I don't think the guy has to look exactly like Drake to play him in the film. Most film adaptations of games are crap, I doubt the main actor/actress in the the film has any real influence in it. If they know the game or have played it, doesn't stop the script from sucking.

Mark Wahlberg has done some good films (but more stinkers, for sure) and he is recognisable to the people who pay to see the movies.

The Max Payne film would have sucked regardless of who the lead was.

Just gonna go against the curve here and say whilst Wahlberg was utter crap in Max Payne, he was quite good in the recent movie "The Other Guys".

Who knows... maybe he can pull the light humour stuff off that's in Uncharted?

100% agree. Who cares who's in it? Chances are it will be rubbish anyway, like 99.9% of all game / movie tie-ins. Written by dumb prats for (they assume gamers are) dumb prats.
 
couldnt have picked a worse fit for the part if they tried. should have been Fillian, or at a push ryan reynolds, but mark wahlberg thats the kiss of death
 
Bad choice IMO. I actually don't mind Mark Wahlberg as an actor,we was good in departed,shooter,4 brothers and the other guys. But I just don't think he's the right choice for Nathan Drake.

There's more to him than that. If you watch firefly, serenity, or castle. You'll see that he'd be perfect for drake. The way he can deliver one liners, be cheeky, sarcastic, cocky.

And lets face it, the similarities between Drake and Mal Reynolds is uncanny. :p


The only reason Whalberg got the role, is because he's got a good relationship with David O'Russell, who's writing and directing the film as they've done a ton of films together previously. I bet the skipped even considering other people straight away.

Damn it, Nathan Fillion is made for this role. Made for it! And he'd be faithful to the role too. Mark will turn this into an all out action movie.
 
Shocking im not even going to watch this. Nathan Fillion is Drake no one else. Very poor choice from the director.

The director, who apparently likes Wahlberg enough to cast him in his Three Kings and The Fighter flicks has also apparently gotten the actor to agree to play Nathan Drake.
Wahlberg has confirmed Russell has started writing the movie and had this to say on the matter: “David is one of the best writer/directors I’ve ever worked with. The idea that he has is just insane. So hopefully we’ll be making that movie this summer.”
The actor also confirmed the rumor that Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro are being courted for the film.
“That’s who he wants to write the parts for,” he said. “I talked to Pesci about it and I know David’s people have talked to [Robert De Niro]. I’m obviously in whatever David wants to do, but the idea of it is so off the charts: De Niro being my father, Pesci being my uncle. It’s not going to be the watered-down version, that’s for sure.”
Funnily enough, neither an uncle or father came into play in either PS3, game so who knows what the hell else O’Russell has planned for the movie that falls outside the Uncharted cannon.

OMG I am proper proper gutted about this. Drake is so obviously Fillion.

I just do not see how Wahlberg will carry off the relaxed Drake humour with out it coming over as over-acting.

I am not so much looking forward to this now at all.
