is that an intense slopestyle (re: llandegla photos) how much can you get hold of one for? looks nice!
Yup, its the Intense Slopestyle (SS2) frame. It's the newer of the Slopestyle frames (hence the SS2 name), the older style frame had the Shock mounted to the top tube where as this newer frame has it mounted to the down tube.
Frame also has the VPP linkage - very smooth!!
Frames are available from a number of retailers; for prices, have a look at these;

Nice frame 6th - look a bit thin mind. :)

Chaps, I have a question. Can the remote bar-mounted lockout lever on RockShox forks be replaced for a manual one?

I have some Tora's with a manual lever, but I'm looking at some used Reba Teams which come with the remote lever, but I'm not really fan of them. They clutter up the bars and I don't really want another cable running up there. Can it be replaced with a lever similar to my Tora's without too much trouble?

When you say manual lever I presume you mean it's on the top of the right leg.

You either have to replace the damper for a non-remote version, or you used to be able to bodge it by unhooking the return spring inside the existing damper.

I don't understand the current facination with remote lockout either...

Yeah sorry, my Toras have a lever ontop of the right leg for lockout, which I'd prefer on the Rebas over the bar mounted one.

Am I right in thinking that although they're 100mm as standard, you can play with internal spacers to up them to 120mm? They're 09 Reba Teams.

Thought I might try this in here:

My rear brake is a Formula Oro K18. After bleeding it a while ago, I didn't realise the little little reservoir screw in the lever was made out of the softest metal in the world and while tightening it, I've gnarled the torx bit inside into pretty much a smooth cylinder. "No problem" I thought.. "I'll just have to replace it."

I put an order in to CRC a few months ago. They wanted £6, which is a little ridiculous but I'm willing to pay that much for it. Unfortunately they have never come in stock and they seem reluctant to answer my emails :(

The only other place I can find it online is bicycledoctor.co.uk, who have it listed as "in stock" but at the price of £12.50 including delivery, which is not cool for a screw.

Does anyone know anywhere I can find a replacement? I've tried Halfords and will try my local bike shop later in the week but its looking more like I'm going to have to cough up £12.50 for this. I've been riding round without a back brake and I'm loosing confidence as the roads get saltier and saltier.

Even better, does anyone have a dead formula oro lever they'd be willing to butcher for me?

Oops!
Just saw this on their weibsite...which I guess is the reason for lack of stock @ CRC

Well, just put down a deposit on the last Med/White Transition TR450 frame left in the country :)

That will put an end to my Cannondale Chase being used a temporary downhill bike (complete with 1 brake and wet screams).

Ah cheers, how does it compare to a downhill bike for smashing over stuff? I'm in 2 minds between something slopestyle / free ride and a full DH rig.

Thanks

Can any of you give me your opinions as a consumer regarding warranties.

Had a 2 year old kona dew frame come in cracked, has a 4 year warranty and it had no crash damage etc. So paligap will warranty it but we have to charge the customer £60 to strip and build up the bike on the new frame AND pay carriage to send the old frame back.

As a shop we don't get paid anything for the work/postage even though they could have bought the bike anywhere. So because of this we pass the charge onto the customer.

I had to fit a semi integrated headset as the old frame had a normal headset and the new frame was semi integrated - they were reluctant to even pay for that:S

Do you think it's right that you would have to pay for a frame failing under warranty?

Its a difficult one and will totally rely on the terms of the warranty if you take a car warranty as an example then usually the work required to replace the warranted item is included in the warranty. However if you look at say a hard drive you only return that for replacement if it fails - not the whole PC.

Ultimately I'd say that if the frame was purchased as an individual item I don't think its unreasonable to expect it to be returned and replaced as a frame, not as a full bike, if it was bought as a full bike then cost to strip and rebuild should be soldered by the warranty.

It was a full bike purchased from us back in 2008.

The £60 for the time it took to strip and rebuild is a bargain as if this was the middle of summer I could have got through triple that easily! Sometimes get £200+ single repairs which that would have kept me off.

The customer actually worked in the car trade and it highlighted to me that the procedure seemed flawed.

I think the suppliers argument is that they set our margins to take warranties into account BUT they deal to websites that we practically have to price match and as such have lower margins.

I would expect the shop to pay for the lot. That's what good bike shops do to keep customers happy and to keep them coming back. Online retailers will even refund postage costs in some cases, although I would be happy to pay for that.

Why would a shop pay if they never even sold the bike though? They make no money on something + cost money due to not getting other work done and courier costs.

If you buy a car from douglas park bmw in hamilton you can take it to any bmw dealer and won't have to pay anything. The other dealer must get paid somehow?

After my unsuccessful attempt using HS33's, I'm considering sticking with V's and getting some Avid SD7's. Anyone used them? It's for my Onza Bird 20" trials bike :)
