Another 5850 or?

Where has the £115 figure come from? They are EOL surely and etailers just need to shift what they have, but no point selling lower than they have too. People would buy them up fast enough at £130+ They could even keep hold of a few to satisfy rma needs too.

Why would the price drop any lower than 6850 prices? And are 6850 current £140 ish prices set to hold up until just before the new 40nm plant opens up? Is that in February?
 
5850's are available for £112.99 new now and those are good branded gigabytes with good cooling so I'd stick with one and wait for second hand prices to come in line and pick one up for £80 or less.
Or i would sell now and wait it out.

People know this and you'll start seeing 5770's 5850's flooding the mm trying to be sold over the odds relying on peoples ignorance about the hot 5850 deal.

This is why it's always a good idea to have a backup card as you can sell your main card just before the price plunge and come out laughing at the other side when the dust settles.

I'll have to have a looksey if they are selling for £113. Might even tempt me at that price and I dont really need more performance than a single 5850 gives tbh.

Shame I have my 5770 Crossfire, else I'd love to have a Play.
 
Shame there's no pc games around that are worth playing that require much over xfire 5770 or a single 5850 though.

I am tempted to sell my 5770 and get a 5850 but what's the point there's no pc games around.
 
TBH you're right. At the moment I run a single 5770 (the second card died last week and needs to be rma'd) I game at 1920x1200, with a Q6600 @ 3.4 and I can play most games maxed out.

I'm considering the new ATi series. Albeit as single card, but.. why? other than Crysis :p
 
Will be a bit gutted if OCUK are selling these cheap over the next month, but I'm still convinced this is a unique thing before the January sales.
And thats why you might see some crossfire piccies from me next week *cough* *cough*. It was too good to pass up.

Shame there's no pc games around that are worth playing that require much over xfire 5770 or a single 5850 though.

Some decent games out early next year though.
 
I have a Sapphire 5850 currently and I put in two orders for the ones at £114 to go xfire and then sell the Sapphire. I was doing that so that both would be same model with same cooling etc.

Is it worth the hassle, or am I 100% safe just getting the one and having xfire with two different manufacturers cards?

I have a Powercolor 5850 PCS+ and a HIS 5850 with the 10.11 drivers all seems ok.

Clocked the HIS up to the 5850 speed too.

A matched pair would be nice but I wouldnt buy 2 new ones.
