Janessssssy, if you're truly going weight weenie for racing. Do you need a 400mm or will a 350 do? Are you current bars 2" rise as that's a lot?

Looking at getting a proper pair of shorts to wear for cycling. Looking at Endura products but from some of the reviews on CRC their build quality sometimes lack.

Anyone here using Endura shorts (baggy style like the SingleTrack) or any other Endura stuff can give me their experience on the build quality...

Likewise. I have 2 pairs of Endura's and they are fine.

Also worth a look is Altura

I have a pair of Altura Summit shorts, I really like them;

Im looking for the best way of making my Epic lighter for next years racing.
Mrs Janesy has 'promised' to get me a few prezzies for Xmas.

Can I improve this?

Pls - dont suggest wheels or anything else :)

tubeless +1,

i would also have a look at an SDG iBeam saddle/post as these come in at a freaky low weight. Think they do a carbon version of both now aswell.....

My Evil Sovereign build is nearly done now:

Just got to sort out the front brake adaptor, I bought the brakes second hand, the guy said the rotors were 160 and 180, only just realised they're 180 and 200  I bought an adaptor for the front thinking it was a 180 and have only just realised that's why it won't work.

I've got a 30t chainring on the front from this guy http://andersenmachine.com/ which seems nice so far, running it with a straitline bash and blackspire inner bash guard (bashwich!) need some m6 bolts to fit a blackspire tensioner too but I'm going to see if I drop the chain with just the bashwich before fitting it. Waiting for a PG 990 Gold cassette and KMC gold chain (pimpin yo) also still waiting on damn CRC to get the answer pro taper bars in stock too!

Out of interest, how much does your bike weigh rhysduck?
Not sure weescott. Yet.
If I feel with it later, I might try and weigh it but I don't have a proper weighing scales for that kind of thing. Just a bathroom scales. Should be ok though.

Very nice Andelusion!! :D But Nevegal's?? Do it justice and put some decent tyres on her :p

I've never had a problem with nevegals :) Got one on the front of my Enduro and it's never washed out on me. The rear is an Excavator.

Why do you say that? From what I've seen it's one of the most popular tires around, slow rolling yes but I'm no weight weenie.

Personal experience mainly. Never had or seen anything good about them, they've constantly washed out on my mate.
I think they're slightly overpriced for what they are.
I've had a pair of Halo ChoirMasters leave a pair Nevegal's standing! They were very poor compared to the ChoirMasters (Which I run on my hardtail now).
Just my preference really, if they work for you then no problem! Wouldn't touch them myself. :)

I have no idea how he doesn't come off that... I had a sore one many years ago when, leaning into a turn at a reasonable speed, the bike slid out (that what you mean by wash out?) and I ended up with gravel rash right up the left side of my torso and thigh....

Kinda made me nervous it will happen again... Guess I just need to build up the old confidence again (as well as an actual skill level after not riding a bike for nigh on 20 years).

I liked my Nevegals, never had a problem with them, but my new Rubber Queens are a million times faster, and so far seem at least as grippy.

Glad to hear I'm not alone andi :D

I was going to try some Continentals this time round, mountain kings as per wesscott and ichardbod crane's recommendations, but I was trying to save money and got the nevegal for £6 or something stupid :D

I do, my current 400mm post is at full insertion on a large frame. Also your right about the 2” rise. Mine are 1” currently. Good spot.
I’ve had a chat with the Mrs and I think I will keep my current post. I guess you can go a little too far with being a weight weenie.

Is tubeless really lighter? When you take in account the heaver Tyres. Especially when you can now get latex tubes.

From what I've read a lot of people who've gone tubeless don't really do it to save weight, first priority is to reduce punctures, if any weight is saved then it's merely a positive.

I'm sure it's possible to save weight but you probably have quite a reduced choice of tires (UST).

You don't need to use UST tyres...

You don't have to use UST tyres - that's what the sealent is for. :)
Had zero problems sealing my 2.4 Rubber Queens (non_UST) but on the other hand trying to seal a 2.2 Rubber Queen (Again Non UST) was an absolute nightmare, the walls were EXTREMELY porous. May have just been a bad tyre though.
Still plenty of choice with UST tyres!

Edit: beaten to it - should read before I post :(

Back from Afan - It was a touch brisk at -18c

Saturday - The Wall, rubbish trail, nothing technical and boring.
Today - Whites Level x 2. An awesome ride, made super tricky with big sections frozen up with ice.

Also broke my derailleur hanger and had to do the last sections single speed - grrr

A couple of pics
Yes seat is high, it gets lowered for the fun parts.
