Rome in 35mm

Absolutely stunning photos there Raymond. I'm always so impressed by your photography! A couple of friends and myself are considering a trip to Rome to do an "Assassins Creed enactment" holiday (before anyone says we're sad, we know lol) and your photos here make me want to do it even more just for the fantastic photo opportunities!

I TRIED to take photos of scenery but sometimes I can't help myself...

Actually, you know what, that's what we were did too!

We see a wall and think...Hmmmmm Altair can clime this....just grab there, foot there, a little jump there and viola ! Or jump off that church tower (view point).

The photo with the finepix camera is weird. It's like someone else is under the camera holding it because of the DOF :D

The shot where she is jumping in the air reminds me of Footloose :D

Great shots. Some look a little soft though - 2,5,6,9,10. Could be just the resize?

well spotted!

This is a sharper version, i rushed it and posted the wrong pic but didn't change the first post.

No. 10 has a SLIGHT camera shake because it was so dark.

No. 2 is wide open at 1.4 LOL

No. 6 was at 1.6 at 1/40th (so it could be sharper), but it's sharp enough at 100%.

No. 9 is sharp though.

Fantastic shots Raymond! So you know how many shots you took/processed but discarded? Just interested on the ratio as you have uploaded 121 photos and all of them look fantastic.

I took 845 in total.

I culled them, keeping 675.

I just picked a set for my iPad - 203.

I have lots inside the Vatican of photos of statues and paintings and roofs decor, which i won't bore you guys here but they are not rejects.

We also did the heel click thing a few times, on bust mode so kept the run up too lol

Thanks. 845 is a lot more than I expected!

I often find myself wondering what to do with photos that aren't good enough to upload to share but not bad enough to discard (out of focus, forgot to update settings, etc). I rarely end up showing them to anyone else.

I probably only show 200 to people. I mean no one really want to look at every statue photo I took, they just want a flavour. And no one want to see 100 photos of the girl i went with (it was hard to pick a photo without her in it), plus all the ones with me in it, general holiday photos.

I went there like on Holiday, never really lingered at a particular spot for more than 2 seconds, just kept walking but always had my camera out, lens cap off and snap when i see something.

The girl's easy on the eye; you don't have to hold off from posting more photos, hehe. :) I take it she didn't mind you being armed with the camera all the time?

It helps to go travelling/exploring with people who appreciate or understand why we take so many photos. Some people don't get it. Personally, if that's the case, I tend to get pressured and rush shots to move on. Always end up regretting not spending a little bit more time looking around first. But I am a bit wary of going abroad on my own. I also find I sometimes forget to appreciate the trip for what it is - a holiday.
