570v6950 580v6970...let the GFX wars commence.

On a day when a lot of other geopolitical things are being leaked, our friends from Sweden found the specifications sheet of NVIDIA's new upcoming high-end graphics accelerator, the GeForce GTX 570. The GTX 570 will be a deputy to the company's recently-release GeForce GTX 580, it is based on the GF110 graphics processor, with 480 CUDA cores enabled, and a 320-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface holding 1280 MB of memory. At this point it looks like a cross between the GTX 480 and the GTX 470, but the equations take a turn when clock speeds step in: 732 MHz core, 1464 MHz CUDA cores, and 950 MHz (3800 MHz effective) memory, churning out 152 GB/s of memory bandwidth. Power consumption is rated at 225W. NVIDIA's upcoming accelerator is slated for release on 7th December, just five days ahead of AMD's Radeon HD 6900 series launch.

If thats correct then its likely to hit 900MHz - possibly more - on the core which would make it quite a monster card when overclocked.

EDIT: A pair of these doing 1GHz core clocks without totally stupid voltage/cooling is possibly not a totally unlikely scenario :D

Cool, so just as I expected it's had one group disabled like the original 480.

I guess we can expect it to outperform 480 maybe so will be an interesting battle between this and the 6950

That kisses goodbye to the GTX480s unless they are the heavily overclocked model's then no wonder the prices are nose diving so rapidly now not even worth selling anymore just put a decent HSF on yours & its still a stonking GPU :D

I said a few weeks back a £300 gtx570 would make the gtx480 unsellable.

Performance should be on par with a gtx480 but the gtx570 should overclock more.

So there should be a nice saving over a gtx580 for little less performance.

I must admit the gtx480 is going to be one of the shortest lived high end cards which Nvidia have ever made.

Now do I cancel my order for two gxt580's?

GTX480 are not even selling 2nd hand for £250  which is crazy as they are still very fast GPU's & put a Gelid or Zalman HSF on they are silent & can be heavily overlocked ;) New they are now only £320 or less

Biggest mistake Nvidia made with the GTX480 was stick the useless stock HSF on its the worse I ever saw. Gelid/Zalman HSF's make the GPU idle around 35C & only 65C under full load. At least 30C less than the Nvidia HSF  I can guess that the only GTX480's left are the ones in the supply chain once those are gone that's it as its already EOL 1 month ago Nvidia just won't announce that in any hurry ;)

If you can get them for £311 each (which I doubt very much but good luck to you if you can!!) otherwise a single GTX580 is very fast unless you have a 30" TFT or Tri screens a single GTX580 is going to own in almost every PC game @ 1920x1200 for a long time ;)

Not finding it struggles with anything right now even Metro2033 is very smooth & playable as long as you set Supersample to x2AA.

but for a card that costs £300 new now, selling something second hand for £50 less is a bit of a rip off....especially as you will have the added 'risk'.
i think most 480 sellers will have to go ebay where the masses have no common sense :p to recoup any sort of money.

i think a lot of people are also put off with the power/heat from the 400 series, especially when compared to ati.
