I tend to go through periods of intense immersion in a hobby for a few years, get to a kind of middling standard of ability and then drop it for something else that takes my fancy.
Have been through, in rough chronological order:
Tabletop RPGs
Aikido
LARPing
Classical guitar
5-a-side footie
Scuba diving
Golf
Rock climbing
Bodybuilding/weightlifting (diet narked me off too much after a couple of years)
Spanish guitar (same guitar, different style)
And currently I'm learning Japanese. Enjoying it a lot at the moment, but fully aware I'll probably drop it for something else in a year or two, since I get so immersed in whatever I'm currently into there's never really time for two at once...
Throughout it all there's always been reading, films, and computer games, but I kind of think of those as time-killers rather than hobbies.
