OCZ rma is a joke

If you bother to join their forums and ask they'll send a courier to collect f.o.c. I'm fairly sure they'd cross-ship if asked.

If instead of this you bad mouth them on a different forum, more fool you.

Well I'll certainly ask them, but I think you may be wrong. I joined their forum over a week ago and part of the RMA instructions say this:

"Please choose the RMA location you would like to use:
1. Europe (Waddinxveen, The Netherlands)
2. USA (San Jose, CA)
3. Canada (Markham Ontario)
4. Asia Pacific (Chung Ho City, Taiwan)

You are responsible for shipping to the location you choose."

Yep, I read that when I sent an elitexstream back perhaps a year ago. Then started up a thread on their forum (apparently I was pretty ****** off that it failed, it wasn't a friendly OP) and a guy called RyderOCZ arranged for a courier to collect it.

It's certainly worth asking.

Quite a lot of manufacturers will ask you to ship an RMA at your own cost, evga being one that i had to go through, (Germany), £35.00 for a motherboard via RMSD. Viewsonic were excellent though, my vx2025 lcd developed a fault, they sent me a new screen and the courier that delivered it picked the faulty one up.

Im also running an OCZ 700w ModXsteam, this thread worries me :D

My OCZ ModXStream 700W failed last week and I am 2 months over the first year warranty :(

Bought here from Overclockers last year.

Not sure I can face the hassle of returning it to the Netherlands but I won't be buying an OCZ power supply again.

OCZ is a horrible company as far as I'm concerned. Their customer support is poor, when I contacted them about faulty RAM they ignored my emails for over a month before I threatened to report them. Then they tried to point the blame onto the motherboard. I am never going to buy another OCZ product again.

Then there are companies like Corsair, who shipped me an entire set of the cable management grommets for a mod project after I simply asked them where I could buy them. They said they could send me some if I provided proof of purchase of any Corsair product- sent through an E-receipt for some RAM and they sent them for free.

Agree with OCZ being rubbish,i had to RMA some OCZ gold ram, they then sent me back new ram and that was faulty too.

Makes me wonder if they even sent me back my faulty ram

I gave up in the end, wont buy there products ever again

Have a look at the likes of parcel2go and parcelmonkey for cheaper delivery options.

+1 Used ParcelMonkey for about 30 deliveries to the UK, tried them sending my old PSU to Netherlands too, cost £14.50, took DHL about 3 days for it to get there

Don't use parcelforce, you will end up dissapointed lol

I was RMAing my OCZ StealthXStream 600W about a year ago.
Beginning was terrible as I thought 30 quids for sending parcel to NL is too expensive for my PSU. Then I found cheap courier online and paid about 13-14 pounds, so decided to send my piece of hardware.
After some messaging on OCZ forum, I've received it back, opened.. and.. ping... I found *new* Z-Series 850W, unopened inside :)

So it was worth to pay some extra pounds for me. DOn't know how others, but I'm satisfied.

^This is a good point, my 800W model was changed for a better pc p&c model. I think something similar happened to Greebo on here, though I may have the name wrong. Makes the delivery cost, if unavoidable, more worthwhile if it happens to the OP.

in fairness to OCZ their support is quite decent
i have only expreienced corsair support personally which was outstanding.

however, customers can and should deal with manu after certain time periods

for instance, i had a corsair psu that i had to rma to the netherlands before i worked at OcUK and it was really quick but i didnt mind the cost of sending it back to the manu.
corsair replaced it within 10 days, much quicker than doing it via the place of purchase.

essentially it cuts out the middleman
would you prefer to send it to the retailer who will take a few days to get the item and test it, then organise an rma [another day] then send it back to the manu who deals with it as a non priority item [up to 28 days]

i would much sooner send something back myself. manus tend to prioritise private customers over retailers

i would suggest buying components you know have favourable returns policies form trusted manufacturers.
Corsair have never let me down and thats why i champion their products.

Sound advise.

RMA'd a HX1000 less than 3 months old from OcUK direct myself. Followed the instructions on the Support pages. Sent off a bare PSU and received a full, brand spanking new, fully boxed with all the bits replacement within 9 working days. Fully informed by e mail throughout.

Im also running an OCZ 700w ModXsteam, this thread worries me :D

Can't understand why your worried? Again dealt direct with customer support about 2 "damaged" cables for my PSU. Package turned up 2 weeks later with a FULL replacement set :)

Logitech beat the ass outta all companies mentioned this far ;)

the best of the lot! Phoned customer support about a non working VX wireless mouse. Read off the serial numbers etc. from the device and because it was no longer made they replaced it with a all singing, all dancing newer model within 4 days from the Netherlands

My advise... deal direct

... keep records of all contacts

.... follow RMA instructions

= no problems

Lastly - Corsair H50 mounting screw set - 2 e mails = replacement set from California, USA in 14 days (ordinary small padded envelope airmail/postage) - result :)

If you can't be arsed bruv... send it my way

I'll stump up £20 ish to send it off for a replacement or better if they have none of the same model at the RMA hub :)

To the OP

Good old fashioned Post Office counters are worth a look. Heavy old HX1000 plus packaging over 3Kg was just over 23 quid with tracking :)

Coolermaster is even worse. Ocuk RMA is great, fast and reliable, and they sent my PSU to coolermaster for some reason.

If you're buying OCZ/CM, Hope your stuff doesnt get dingied because its gonna be a long time before u get anything back.

+1

just out of curiosity (as i never really rma'd with manufacture before) which companies are best with rma (gonna make a new pc soon and might as well make sure the expensive components are from decent companies....just in case)

,thxs
