H-50 or Baram?

Of course, it is completely dependent on the voltage applied as opposed to the overclocked speed . . . .

Yours might be stable at lower volts.

Each to their own but I am getting temps 10 degrees lower on my 965 using a Baram and some Arctic Silver tim so maybe try looking at other things. ie case ventilation.

What case is it and how many fans you got ie intake/exhaust?

I have a Antec902 so no problems with ventilation.

99% of those chips will do 3.6ghz on stock or nearly stock volts so voltage is not a problem in here.

Something must be wrong, maybe check if the cooler/chip surface is flat, might be CPU HS or the heatsink base not even.

Nope everything is fine, looks fine, feels fine. It went up to 58c when ripping a dvd to my hard drive a minute ago. Using near-enough 100% of cpu power.

sponge999,

an AMD® Phenom™ II X4 955 @ 3.6GHz should not be hitting 60°C full load using a Thermolab Baram?

What vCore is the chip set at? . . . are you 100% you done up the thumbs screws nice and tight? . . .

Yeh very sure the screws are as tight as they will go. 1.42v i'm on. Anyways just ordered the Akasa Venom, should see a significant reduction with that.

You shouldn't really see any reduction, they're without 1c difference of each other and with good fan, the baram should be bit better as well.

Which revision of the 955 are you using?? You should be able to do that speed at under 1.4 volts. I think my 965 C3 does 3.6 at 1.375 volts

Maybe get some mx2/3/4 instead of the zalman

Yeh its c3, would the thermal really make that much of a difference? Ill post temps of my new Venom tomorrow

As the thread has suggested the baram should be giving you good results. If you can't get them with that then in my opinion changing the cooler for another air one won't help as the baram is very good. Need to start thinking about ventilioation, fans, tim used etc

The 902 is a good case, my mate has it, there are 2 fans standard front and back are they all working? Have you cleaned any acucmulated dust form the filters?

Thought: Is it next to a radiator?

Fans are all working and operational. I used the zalman super thermal grease over the one supplied with the heatsink. Do you think the one supplied will be better?

Could try the arctic silver or mx 3 paste mate. Make sure you clean all the old off with a good cleaner. I use arctic arcticlean.

That chip should not be running so high with those coolers unless the overclock is producing massive increases. Save your overclock profile and try running everything at stock and see what temps you get. If still high you'll know its not the overclock.

Have you tried returning everything to stock settings/voltages ie removing the overclock? That way you can see if its the overclock which I suspect it is.

And besides whats wrong with those temps for an overclocked system?

Basically, people who have the same oc on the same chip, with everything the same as me, they are getting high 20's, where i am getting high 30's.

Ok I've lowered volts to 1.18v, and put CPU to stock 3.2ghz and it's 28c Idle, 46c Prime95. Will try and get it to 3.4ghz tomorrow with minimal voltage. Do those temps sound ok?

no its not!! you should get a megahelms with 2 akasa vipers in push/pul....

nah seriously, dont worry about the temps too much, as long as it doesnt go above 75C under full load your good :D
p.s not all chips are the same :D
