HTC Desire HD (Ace)

Has anyone got a guide on the best way to tweak this phone out of the box to get best performance out of this phone including battery performance?

Turning off internet when you don't need it is the biggest battery-saver for me. That and set the brightness to auto and reduce sync times (Facebook 4 hours instead of push etc).

Well folks, the world can rest in peace now, I got my Desire HD :D

It took me 98 posts to get it
Picked it up from the royal mail depot this morning. Now it's gonna sit in it's shiny box next to me for the next eight hours before I can take it home and play.

Can I pop the sim in and use it right away or do I need to charge her first?

WHAY! I literally just popped into this thread to ask whether you had got yours yet, lucky I read your post first :D Hope you fingers hurt from playing with it all day :p (Why no christmas hat on this smiley?)

holy cow this phone is awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee theres so much to do!

I spent about half an hour trying to get the battery cover off. I finally put a kitchen knife to it and put so much pressure on it the cap flew off and hit the ceiling. I thought i'd broken it but its ok. You can see the blade damage on the tiny slit where you put your finger nail to get it open. I will never open that again.

I saw countless posts of people who syncd with their google/facebook and ended up with an address book of 1000+ phone numbers; just happened to me....Guess it's time to rake the thread for the solution.

So much more to come!

edit: Oh and thanks all for congratulating me on finally getting my phone :P

I think it's a bug personally, I have sim contacts disabled in "View" but they show when I press the phone button, I'm almost 100% sure it wasn't like that on my Hero.

i have a hero sat here too they show in the "phone" section but not in the "people" phone book thing..so same thing on hero wonder if they will ever fix this might have to stop syncing facebook altogether :(

I managed to get rid of them, go in to settings, then sync settings, remove the facebook account, then load facebook, it will ask you to log in to facebook, when you log in, turn off facebook syncing then bam, no more facebook contacts in your phone contact list.

I read a guide on how to stop news, stocks syncing etc, it tells you to go in to settings>account and syncing, you can then see news, weather, stocks etc, however going on these, there is no option to remove or stop these from syncing??

Any ideas?

Also, can anyone reccomend anymore tweaking guides? I read the one that was posted a few pages back but I wanted to see if there is more I can do, im finding this phone quite sluggish I am sorry to say :( it does tend to be guide awkward when browsing through menu's, freezes when loading stuff.

I have also turned off WiFi and Mobile data via the settings menu, unless I need them, I have then added a WiFi Shortcut to my home screen, is there anyway to put a mobile data shortcut on my home screen so I can easily turn on mobile data?

Another bug I may have found, I have turned off vibrate when I press items on the screen, as A) Its annoying, and B) it wastes the battery, but it still happens when I am typing SMS messages even though its turned off in the menu (Settings>Sound>Vibrate Feedback)
