Now now, no need for sour grapes. The Russian bid by all accounts was very good and the reality is that the global establishment, of which FIFA is a part, is looking east as we in the west decline.

What a crock. Russia paid for the votes pure and simple.

Probably best to lock this now before someone really goes OTT

Really fear for any future England bids now as there are going to be a fair few hacks gunning for anything fifa now.

"England bid ambassador and BBC presenter Gary Lineker has confirmed that England were knocked out in the first round of voting. They came fourth out of four. I'm stunned."

We wouldn't have got it anyway. Stop moaning. Personally I think that of the four locations, Russia is the right choice anyway. They have a lot of the stadia in place already, some excellent cities to host it in, and eight years to get ready. That part of the world has never hosted a world cup before, unlike western Europe. Football is improving insanely quickly in Eastern Europe. Right choice for me. Yes, I would have liked it here, but there's no point in sour grapes.

I don't blame corruption, I blame Prince Willie's "joke" he made during the presentation, should have sent Prince Phillip at least he has comic timing, even if he can't remember doing it.

The English never had a chance, but the typical mentality of being the best in the world and deserving everything on a plate will have them crying for the next 8 years. Great, how many times can they now mention '66 to make themselves feel better?
