Just had my new case turn up(second hand to keep the cost down slightly)
Had a strange post lady that just let herself in
I just thought i'd get your views on the case

Which case do you mean?

There were/are quite a few with the III designation made by the Thermaltake company.

It's probably hideous though ;)

An old case with zero cable management I'd imagine and rather garish looks by today's standards. Looks pretty moddable though, if you like that sort of thing.

The same site I linked the image from said:
Some of the main features of this case are:

*
100% tool less operation, no screwdriver necessary after the motherboard and PSU are mounted

*
Seven 80mm silent case fans, for optimal circulation

*
Included HardCano 10 for temperature monitoring and 4 fan control knobs

*
Two piece aluminum bezel with hidden drive bays and key lock for security

*
Illuminated front panel with the option to customize the logo

*
External USB and Firewire ports on the top of the case where they are always accessible

*
Side window to show off components

*
Side panel open alarm sensor

Of course this is just checking reviews on the internet. I have no knowledge of the case, and to be quite honest I prefer it that way.

Oi careful now!

Remember who else has just bought a Thermaltake case second hand!

Good thing you didn't see what I deleted from my original post Dubs. :D

Anyway in this instance my worst fears were answered, at least in my opinion, although I don't know if this aluminium one looks any different to the one I posted. The Mozart is a work of art compared to this and besides that big bread bin is kinda growing on me.

cost me £40 and it came with 550w psu
not sure why you think its ugly, but up to you i spose

Only pulling your leg matey. I actually agree with you in that the Mozart is not exactly "stunning" in the looks department (although I quite like it tbh) I bought it for its potential. Most of thermaltake's cases are challenging to appreciate, much in the same way the new Antec cases are.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder and if the OP likes it then that's all that matters although I think the cheese has clearly slid off his cracker!

Did you get a receipt?

strange, the bloke didnt give me a receipt of a second-hand case

i like it, i must have different taste. anyway its my first build and it has every think i need from a cace, good cooling, controlerbale fans and a temp display.
i will have to try and do smonething with the cables though:)

I had one of those when they came out. It looked good then but the fan controller and cabling was terrible. Sold it on 3bay a few years later for a reasonable amount.

how was it at cooling, most of the fans arnt in the best postions, might have a play aroung with it when its up and running

I had one of these back in 2003.

It was noisy. The novelty of the "outlandish" looks soon wore off when you got working with the thing. It's a maze of tight fits and sharp edges. Sodding thing put me in hospital by taking the top off my finger.

In the end I went to a local PC store and bought a cheap Coolermaster case. Was a massive improvement. The Xaser ended up in a skip at the bottom of my road.

sounds like ive bought a great case:(
But im stuck with it for the time being. I was wondering if it would be possible to mount a ps3 fan in the side with the window(mine doesn't have one) to keep the temp down. would there be any way of wiring it up? would there be any other problems mount this or any other fan there

anyone have any modding ideas for this case, its my first build but am good at that sort of thing:J
(ideas not including anything to do with a hammer, crowbar, fire or anything else destructive)

get some pics up of the case (front, side, back and internals) im sure we could come up with some ideas!!
