[SOLVED] Power supply fan problem

Got my new power supply today - antec truepower new 650w modular - the instructions doesn't mention the fan header at all however the only thing that I can see that is a fan header has 4 pins with a raised block separating one pin from the other 3 so that looks like it. My problem is that on my mobo that 4th pin mounts on top of a capacitor (? - raised cylinder) on the board so I can't insert the fan header at all. What can I do?

The board is a gigabyte ga-880ga-ud3h.

Are talking about the 4 pin fan header by the cpu, this is for 4 pin PWM fans or 3 pin.

Use a different header? That motherboard has 4 according to the manual.

However,it is normally the case that the cable coming from the power supply is not to supply the psu fan with power but to allow the BIOS to read the fan speed. In other words, try powering the system on without the cable attached.

I'm talking about the 3 pin power fan header which is beside the main power supply. There are no 3 pin fan connectors in the antec pack only this 4 pin one. What would it be for if it's not for the power fan?

Yeah there is one 4 pin (system fan header). Didn't know whether I could just switch fan headers about.

I tried powering on without the fan connector however the wireless mouse & keyboard controller flashes and that's the only sign that there was any power at all getting to it. There is no noise from the pc at all. The fan doesn't come on on the power supply. So could have much bigger worries.

Ah yes, ignore this, some PSU come with a cable which can monitor psu fan speed via the motherboard.

This fan header supplies 12v to fans as well.

OK got the power fan working. All fans now come on (inc cpu fan) but board doesn't post. Screen just blank. Away to check all connections.

Yeah have the 8 pin cpu power connected. The CPU fan doesn't start sometimes and then other times it does. Strange. Done a CMOS clear. Just nothing hits the screen at all. Plugged in the pc speaker thing to see if I could get any beeps but don't get any. Tried it the other way round in case I plugged it the wrong way but still no beeps. Getting a bit concerned now.

I have memory in slots 2 & 4 as I couldn't use 1 as the cpu fan is obstructing it. I will try with one stick of ram next to see what I get.
