rant mode on/

4 days ago i got an email from paypal informing that my account has a claim to resolve and my account is locked untill i fix it...

So i log in and find that they have linked me to an email address that i havent used in about 4 years!

Seems That when my account in inactive (with an balance of £0!) someone claimed that i never sent them some stuff on ebay and got a refund of £30.

As the email was inactive i wouldnt have known as NTLWORLD closed the email down.

They linked my new account with a Positive balance of £900 that was supposed to be transferd to my bank 12 days ago to this old account because it had the same name....

They reversed all my transfers and transactions and locked down my account.

I send it details of who i was and was told it would be 12-24 hours till its solved. 3 days later nothing...

Called them up and they said i MUST pay the £30 to have my account back so i did so but i wasnt happy about it.

I said "can i have my account limitation removed now?"

they said No because it takes up to 72 hours for them to actually pay the £30 from my debit card to the old account and i will have my account back by wednesday.

Sooo I have had no money for over a week and cant buy food because paypal are the most stupid company i have ever come across.

Why the hell did they reverse my transfers when there was only 1 day before the due time was for it to be in my bank, my bank was actually showing the money but then poof gone.

Once wed hits it will be 3-9 days AGAIN to send to my bank.

anyone else hate paypal? got any storys?

Rant over.

Paypal are a non regulated financial racketeer.

They have total control over any money you put with them, and are answerable to no one as they do not fall under the remit of any governing body as far as i know.

User beware when dealing with them.

Interesting point. How do I totally shutdown a paypal account?

I've had so much trouble with paypal in the past that I'll NEVER use them again.

It seems that they like to lock accounts for no reason so they can hold onto your money for as long as possible

There is a link in the headings somewhere, i managed to do this at one point. I no longer use them as they are the worst thing ever.

I don't know what the hell you people do with paypal, but I very rarely have any issues with them, neither does my gf.

Christ, my account got hacked a couple of years back and 200 euros was stolen from, I had it back within 3 days.

When your luck runs out and they finally screw you over you will learn the truth :p

Absolutely spot on. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy, they are scum in an office.

It's what would happen if I let my 4 year old brother play at banking.

My story? Well it's around somewhere as i've told it before but basically:

- Friend bought a new PS3 at launch, didn't like and decided to sell.
- Sold on EBay, buyer paid by Paypal.
- Packed it up and sent as per Paypal instructions, with trackable, insured mail (RMSD).
- Tracking shows parcel as delivered.
- Stolen CC used, Paypal freeze funds.
- Paypal take £400 back, leave us with nothing. Ask us to jump through hoops, which we do.
- Paypal still refuse to unfreeze the money.
- Paypal transfer £400 back to CC company, close the case with no reason.
- Phone calls to try and get money back are futile.

Are the rules the same for PS3s as they are for mobiles? You have to receive positive feedback or something first in order for Paypal to unluck YOUR money. It's a ****er as a seller because eBay (who own Paypal) have a near monopoly on the casual seller unloading their stuff.

Isn't PayPal's problem.

When selling on EBay, I would check:

- Name and address of Ebay account holder
- PayPal account verification
- Name and address of PayPal account holder
- Compare the details!

I meant call and emails to Paypal support. Emails went unanswered, and on the phone they'd hang up on me when I asked them to explain their decision based on the fact that i'd followed their rules to the letter! It was sent to a Paypal verified address! The account also had very good feedback. There was nothing to mark it as suspicious, although I guess it's my own fault for expecting some pirate money transfer company to follow their own rules!

I have to stop really, it's making me livid just thinking about it.

Question for the OP.
Have you 2 paypal accounts? and one was linked to the other, or had you a very old email address attached to your paypal account?

The £30 refund, was that justified? A dispute you simply never heard about?

You try sending them a letter?
A solicitors letter?
Or the small claims procedures within a court of law?

They have to answer to somebody, they can not just decide who looses what, I would have thought that's against the law and theft?
