Hello guys, my parents have finally decided to replace the dinosaur television (which still works by firing electrons at phosphor!)

looking for a 42" model, not fussed between LCD/plasma, as long as it has lots of input options then i'm happy with it.

let me know what to look for because i'm not an expert when it comes to home-cinema. :)

Can you stretch at all? A certain large department store is doing the Panasonic S20 at £540 with a 5 year warranty...

EDIT: Sorry, I know that this isn't in your budget, but thought that I would inform you. It's not that far out of your budget, and is an excellent deal.

would this large department store be part of the Waitrose group? £540 defnintely isn't a massive stretch from the original budget if the TV's worth it.

email in trust matey ;)

I might be wrong, but I thought that you output to your amp, and inputs were from things such as blu-ray players, consoles, Sky boxes etc?

...They would all connect to the amp, via hdmi / comp out from a scart etc...which would then only need one hdmi connection to your TV.

The amp's remote can then control all your devices and switch between them accordingly. I've saved so much time without have to change tv channel then get the right remote etc etc.
