Its only £1000 at stake, and he'll get at least some of that back even if it breaks down.

He will get it all back and with a few easily unbolted items, its not like he needs a full strip down, then weigh in the rest.

The fact hes even mentioned it means it does ring his bell a bit, he knows the car, if he wants one i say go for it, or you could look on it as Fox does and say why bother, who wants a 15 year old 7 series anyway.

Lucky we aint all the same eh?
 
I'm with Fox as far as the wiseness of this is concerned.
However, I'd buy it anyway.
I owned an e32 750i for a while. It went wrong nearly every day, stranded me miles from home a few times and drank like a fish. I didn't care though. I just had to look under the hood and turn the key. Nothing mattered then.

It eventally got sold when it needed a complete suspension rebuild to pass it's mot. I got 1k for it.

Do you really mean pointless? That implies that every other car class has no point exsisting and all cars should logically be this class.

A supermini isn't pointless as the point is to offer much cheaper motoring on a budget.

I suspect you meant something different but the way it came across implies you literally cannot see any reason why people buy anything other than limo size cars :confused:

I'm not actually defending any class, I could have said 4*4 but some may argue a 4*4 isn't a lower class just a very different one.

Pointless = it has no point is exsisting and no worth which I clearly disagree with when applied to all classes below a limo!

Ok let me rephrase this.

The man obviously half likes the car, he knows the history of the car, its a thousand pound to buy it.

If the suspension, gearbox and engine all die on day 2 he will recoup his thousand pounds with a minimum effort.

Me personally i wouldnt have this car if it was free because they do nothing for me, but if you do like it these then this sounds like a better than average gamble because he knows the car.

Mark does have a point though...if a grand is an issue to the OP then a 750i is NOT the sort of car he should be buying :)
 
I agree, but the insinuation was that if you can't afford to throw away a grand then you're only suited to public transport.
