is there any way to make an xbox live child account an adult one?

when i bought my son an xbox360 i used his DOB on his account instead of mine so i had to be the parent account..

cant buy games from the web , so cant just "download to xbox360" i have to find the games on the actual console..

i tried changing the windows live id the gametag is linked to for one with an over 18 DOB but it didnt do jack...

Has anybody had any success with Multiplayer over xbox live?

I just get "No games found" messages despite being able to play other titles on XBLive no problem :confused:
