What's happened here? has someone been messing about with TNT?

I spent a lot of time last week fixing it all up after creeper damage and now it looks like this.

I guess you did not look a bit closer at the sign that mlbtheshow had place right next to that hill just at the end of the path you are standing on ?

Here is also hes forum post telling us what hes doing......

Ive cleared a big area to the.... right of my old workhouse building (its a wreck, patched up after what must have been 10+ creeper hits)

This space is for my new modern housing development... show homes to be open soon, feel free to book an appt. for viewings once their are on the market :D

Here I am again ..... PEOPLE ARE NOT OUT TO DAMAGE OTHER PLAYERS WORK i AM SLOWLY GETTING VERY FED UP WITH THIS & GETTING CLOSE TO PULLING THE PLUG IF A GAME IS MAKING THE WORSE COME OUT IN PEOPLE I DONT REALLY WHAT TO BE PART OF IT.
NOW CAN WE PLEASE TRY AND NOT THINK OF THE WORSE OF OUR FELLOW PLAYERS ?

Yes I am was ment to be SHOUTING :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I did read the sign, however from the shape of the hole in the side of the mountain (floating blocks etc) and the fact that there was an entrance to someones mine there (which was clearly marked and has been destroyed) I doubted he had dug it out - the steps to the mining station have disappeared too so I assumed that the damage had been done first and then mlb came along and started building in that area.

Not accusing anyone of damaging stuff on purpose, I assumed it could have been an accident like the one that occured originally with the TNT house - the damage to that hillside and the fort that was on the previous page are far do look like more than creeper damage though.

I was just surprised when I saw it that's all given the rather radical change in the landscape.

I only just read the part in brackets there, the hill was destroyed before mlb built there, I'd be amazed if it had been done purely by creepers though - the scale of the damage that has occurred is enormous.

You'd be amazed what creepers can do :)

People have to assume that if they see damage that it's been done by creepers not griefers. Tbh I haven't seen that much new blood in the server apart from friends of people already on there, and very few people have access to TNT, mods only for the most part.

Building in spawn atm is dangerous, the area is full of creepers. If you don't want your work damaged then move out somewhere safer, there is a whole world out there waiting to be discovered.

I agree with garsands decision to start tearing down houses of people that either have not been on the server in a while, have not repaired damage to their houses or have not adequately lit their area. If area in spawn frees up new people will move in with a knowledge that each building has to be protected and lit to avoid mob damage.

Sigh i was planning on expanding my house out a bit more but it seems someones built right next to my castle so now i cant really expand now as underneath me is the train station.

Suppose ill just have to work with the area i have then

see this is why i always move a bit away till i find a bit of land that looks good or has enough open space to carve out a nice big chunk of it :D

Impressive hardware upgrade :p

Ive cleared a lot of that 'mountain' that was there (yes im a sad miner lol), infact the pathing over the top is just 1 layer... if you destroy a block, expect a fall as its an absolute mess or a nice cavern, depends on your views. Unfortunately creepers are like mad there, probably not wise me working there but ive died twice from mobs already on this project.... plus last night i was on the roof of my red house and had 6 creepers on the floor looking up at me, alongside various other monsters!

The only 'player' damage ive done is to clear some of the path that led to my old building (Currently a store house), this is because it wasnt needed and often creepers hid under there waiting to detonate :( However once the housing is down, lighting is secure etc Ill repave the lot.

Theres some nice sky buildings to the left of that initial picture you posted, so im hoping to compliment them with some urban buildings.

Off tangent, personally I love the busy feeling of spawn with all the buildings sprawling... gives it a real city feel. Yeah theres a few wrecks (my old house now) or bits of damage about, but things evolve all the time and new ideas come along.

I did do that, there was a massive unused section right next to me i was going to use!

Should've just layed something out, wheres Captain Hindsight when you need him :(

I haven't been on for a while but don't touch my cliffside mansion as I WILL be back when the game stops being a buggy piece of carp!!

Or less of a buggy piece of carp cos it's still Alpha but you know what I mean ;)

ok guys list of things i need to design/ put in the fort say if there's anything i miss.

Obsidian keep.

Foundry -with lots of safe furnaces, a bank of cobble generators and a set of infinite lava + water pools.

Warehouse - Lots of labelled chests i think this will be in the same building as the foundry and make up the upper floors.

Grain farm (multi level) with easy harvesting/planting in mind, I think this will go opposite the foundry and will be connected by a bridge to the warehouse floor.

Animal farm, i think this will go on top of the grain farm so later i can lay halfstone over the floor of the fort to make it mob proof without light.

Spleef stadium - so we can watch people battle each other / mobs to wile away the nights :p,

for this I'm thinking a set of levers to control water /lava to flow onto /under the area depending on the mode.

also if gars is able to (and willing) a set of rooms with individual mobs spawners (again opened by levers/switches)so we can choose the type of mob to be released into the area/under the spleef floor, personally I'd say if we did get spawner's they are solely for battles not farming the rooms won't kill them simply release them into the area.

Pond/lake (Under lit for the prettiness factor :p) for fishing/decoration.

Gravel pathways around the grounds. (well lit as they aren't half stone) for that awesome crunchy sound as you walk.

Mine cart rail on the top of the wall, (inner edge) for quick movement around the walls - will probably be very simple no fancy stations etc.

Reinforced and remotely sealable mine cart station linking the fort to garsands new rail network.

Gatehouse; Reinforced, booby trapped and murderhole filled. With double doors to defend against critters sneaking in with players. Including a fail safe switch that will close and lock both doors and flood the space inside with lava and after a suitable delay flood the chamber with water thus filling it with rock and sealing it shut. This switch will only be activated from within the the chamber between the doors, this will kill you and destroy all your items if you press it, it is a last stand device designed to save the fortress in the event of door failure/massive mobs following you.

As this device requires great sacrifice and a huge amount of repair to reset if used correctly and to save The Fortress from a large attack (not of your own deliberate creation) the hero will be dubbed a knight of the fortress and awarded a Diamond helmet and full suit of golden armour along with a protected room and vault in the obsidian keep.

Set it off to grief and I'll burn you at the stake in the arena.

So what's missing from the list?

Railway station to link the fort to the rest of the world/spawn I have moved the rail link I started to build closer to your outside walls now.
Not sure of a safe way for it to enter was thinking going under ground & under the forts wall.
I have kepted the rail link all the way from the spawn to the fort monster proof & built it in a cutting did not want to build it all under ground.
You may not want the rail link inside the fort if not then I will build a station on the outside.

:p

Not sure about how to get it connected, under ground might be good as the roof of the tunnel could be made of gravel/sand held up by torches and linked to a switch activated water sluice to seal it off. the platforms could be separated by solid walls (with those half stone viewing slots the station guy made) an iron doors (button activated so mobs can't activate them and so people don't forget to close them)

And the stairs leaving the station could be trapped so that mobs trigger water to run down and a red warning sign to light up outside the entrance so the mobs can't get up the stairs and people know to go down and clear it out as a group with swords and bows.

Atm I really don't know much about how minecarts work so will leave a fair bit of space so when i learn/you or others building the stations can fit mechanisms.

Whoever made the station by the spawn made the interior very beautiful i thought so would happily contract out the interior design to them :p

Problem with minecars is that they are a bit finniky and you need loads of them to push any load (like a person) up any kind of incline.

Has someone found a way to make a lava generator work again? The last lava generator I mad was a 5x5 grid of lava, where the center block would always become source lava even once removed. This was however fixed a few patches ago and no longer works.

As for grain production I can help with that as my place has multi level grain production so if you let me know the size of the area you want to use for grain prudction and where you want it built I can quite easily whip that up. The thing to keep in mind with grain production though is that it needs people to keep an eye on it, you can't just plant the stuff then harvest whenever you want like reeds or cacti, grain once fully matured will 'harvest' itself if just left, and the grain/seeds that it leaves on the floor will eventully vanish if not picked up.

Somebody's built a house right on the entrance to the train-station. their trees are even partially blocking it. That's actually really annoying lol

Thats not a problem I can move the whole house and trees in one go, I will move it abit more closer to the beach.

I have changed the path of the track that was coming out of the station to the spawn side of the station. I have just done it quickly so its a mess at the moment but just so you can see what I was thinking as it then joins up with the track that goes to tefals fort.

If you think its a good plan rhen I will tidy it up.
