I'm gonna buy this surge protector for £2.50 but for that price can I really guarantee it will protect me from surges?! Also if it was faulty and there was a surge that destroyed my electronics could I sue them or what?

most probably not, unless the manufacturer offered some sort of guarantee. even then it would be difficult to prove your case.

The quick and short answer is no,a surge protector costing £2.50 will not protect you from a surge big enough to destroy equipment.And no,you cannot sue them either.
