6970 6950 prices listed in France

Crazy pricing, but as many have pointed out Gibbo confirmed the rough price range for these cards. I'm guessing about £270 for 6950, £370 for 6970.

i'd go for nVidia for CUDA and PhysX. i also feel nvidia gives me smoother gaming experience, especially with one of my fav title: GTA4.

you get Eyefinity of a single card with AMD, a plus point for AMD in my books but I agree, CUDA, PhysX and superior drivers under Linux OS might make do for nVidia.

Then again, same thermals nVidia as AMD? I saw pigs flying this morning :D

Naff French site, ignore.

6970 will hit under £350, 6950 £250

Shall we add this to the list of your crazy predictions? (which will be thrown back at you on Dec 15th, and the months that follow...).

Edit: Although I admit these price predictions are only "crazy" if you combine them with your ridiculous "30-40% faster than the GTX580" prediction. If performance of the 6970 / 6950 is similar to that of the GTX580 / 570, then they might not be too far off the mark.

I went with the 6870 instead of the 5870 because its newer tech which is more efficient, supports 3D, better tessellation and easier to sell on in future especially with better crossfire scaling its ideal for someone looking for another 2nd hand.

What tec does the 6870 not have that the 5870 series does?

cheers

I'm not so sure, given 2 equal priced, equal performing, equal thermals cards which one would you guys go for?

Personally I would go with Nvidia

Whichever company offered the best compatibility, best stability and better minimum frame rate. Thus far that's been Nvidia but I'll be happy to change if ATi pull something clever out their hat.

correct me if im wrong but this is how it went

Ati was smaller than Nvidia

Amd went joint partnership with ati Unifying it as AMD

thus amd is bigger than nvidia

But intel is still bigger than AMD

so it goes like this

Intel
Amd
Nvidia

and nvidia is pally with intel

No. AMD bought ATI and are now the GPU based wing of AMD.

Intel is bigger than than just about all the other silicon company's put together.

Nvidia hate Intel.

You believe that somehow proves nVidia is the more recognisable brand because of what you'd personally choose yourself? Seriously?

My issues with nVidia aside, I'd still go AMD simply because you can use 3+ monitors per card with AMD, nVidia are still only doing 2 for some reason.

Whichever one gives the better performance when overclocked :D stock benchmarks do nothing for me :) "free" performance always draws me more toward a card, skinflint that I am
