another cyclist rant :/

Where do they plug their keyboards in though?. :D

In my exhaust prior to scraping past at the lights banging my mirror :D

Nah all jokes aside iv got a lot of time for motorcyclists and cyclists when they are being sensible, less so when they start riding like *****.

You should never ride more than two abreast, and ride in single file on narrow or busy roads and when riding round bends
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_069837

That's a 'you should' rather than a 'MUST NOT' though, i.e. they are not breaking the law. Just like wearing a helmet is optional.

I agree that if they are blocking up traffic they should let it pass. I cycle a reasonable amount and generally everyone on the roads is sensible, but you do get idiots in both categories.

if you pay tax to ride n the road fair enough but you don't so have some consideration and make it easier for traffic to get past!
Keep up ;)
Road tax is based on C02 output, so no output no tax required :)

When you come across any of these free road tax cars are you also expecting them to move out of the way as well.

How many points do get for knocking off a cyclist ? :D
Less than a cyclist gets for holding up a queue of impatient motorists :p

Do i have to drive on pavements now?

Based on C02 emission for road vehicle bicycles would be subject to £0 VED if they did have to display a disk!

On a side note, why do cyclists never wait for red lights? They either jump up on the pavement to clear the lights or just sail on through.

I keep hoping that someone clobbers them with a car when they do it. Shameful I know, but it'd teach a lesson.

Exactly right, the problem is you do get less points for them if they have broken the red light.

You really need to knock them off when they have the green light for maximum points.

Unfortunatly it's the minority of bad cyclists that give the rest of us a bad name.
I've always been of the opinion that the highway code applies to all road users, whether motorised or not, & work to that end.
I do quite a bit of cycling, commute to work 5 days a week & just got back from a 30+ mile run this afternoon,
and have seen my fair share of poor cyclists, the same way as I have seen my fair share of bad driving, especally when I drove for a living.

It's the way of the world however, I see bad examples of cycling & driving everyday, but a cyclist is always going to come off worse if/when an acceident occurs.
It would be nice if the minority of drivers who seem to want to intimidate cyclists out of the way could see just how dangerous there actions can be.

The old argument of "they pay no road tax so shouldn't use the roads" is a very boring one these days, as even if it was intruduced it would be £0 as there are no emmisions to tax.
I would support some sort of insurance to be introuduced however, partly to shut the minority of motorists who constanly bleat on about it,
but also to protect us in the event of an acceident.

Unfortunatley this argument will always go on, as people in general seem to be getting more and more impatient on the roads these days.

I tell you what the bottom line boils down to with me, i dont give a monkeys if they pay for road tax, they dont break the roads so let them use them for free.

But here's the rub, when push comes to shove and mr cyclist is about to cause an accident and im faced with a choice of hit an oncoming car or the cyclist, well the cyclist is getting it.

I love the comments some non cyclist keyboard warriors make in threads such as these. ;)

Here's one from me - one keyboard warrior to another. Pedestrians hate drivers, drivers hate pedestrians. Bikers hate truckers. Truckers hate bike riders. Everybody. And I mean every body out there on pavements and roads. Hates the ****ing cyclist lot. For how bad, inconsiderate, stupid, untrained, unpredictable, dangerous and just plain annoying cyclists are.

Cyclist - the road equivalent of door to door energy switch selling Jehowa Witness Lib Dem campaigner dressed in lycra and Bono eyewear.

I would say if you've got time to make a conscious decision of who you're aiming to hit, that you should just try stopping without attempting to murder anyone.

Now now i dont want to kill anyone, just knock them off, you dont get extra points if they end up dead you know ;)
