On a side note, why do cyclists never wait for red lights? They either jump up on the pavement to clear the lights or just sail on through.
I keep hoping that someone clobbers them with a car when they do it. Shameful I know, but it'd teach a lesson.
Unfortunatly it's the minority of bad cyclists that give the rest of us a bad name.
I've always been of the opinion that the highway code applies to all road users, whether motorised or not, & work to that end.
I do quite a bit of cycling, commute to work 5 days a week & just got back from a 30+ mile run this afternoon,
and have seen my fair share of poor cyclists, the same way as I have seen my fair share of bad driving, especally when I drove for a living.
It's the way of the world however, I see bad examples of cycling & driving everyday, but a cyclist is always going to come off worse if/when an acceident occurs.
It would be nice if the minority of drivers who seem to want to intimidate cyclists out of the way could see just how dangerous there actions can be.
The old argument of "they pay no road tax so shouldn't use the roads" is a very boring one these days, as even if it was intruduced it would be £0 as there are no emmisions to tax.
I would support some sort of insurance to be introuduced however, partly to shut the minority of motorists who constanly bleat on about it,
but also to protect us in the event of an acceident.
Unfortunatley this argument will always go on, as people in general seem to be getting more and more impatient on the roads these days.
