Hello people of OcUK motors, hope you are all well? I have been slightly out of the loop with my job and since splitting up with the gf, my life has been a bit mad...however it's recently allowed me to put some more time (and money!) to the motor..Car is filthy due to 6 hours of driving on Saturday to collect my friends Rx7 FD as he's back from New Zealand.

I've treated myself to Eisenmann sports back boxes which we decided to fit early yesterday morning, in the freezing cold!

Got the car up on ramps (*JUST*) and set to work. Check the clearance thanks to the slightly lower Eibach springs.

After quite a bit of time getting the existing system off, it turned out that the flanges were round the wrong way for both and didn't have the correct bolts either, but we all took it in turns under the car as it was so cold.

Here is a small comparison for you:

I haven't got a photo of the finished job, but will take some photos when the car is clean and get some better videos when I have more time.

Three vid's to keep you going until I can get the car out onto a quiet private road..

Now after driving it for only about an hour without being able to give it any beans, I'm very happy. Slight drone beneath 2000rpm with windows up, but then let's face it.... I bought this car to have the roof down and be well above 2000rpm ;)

Lots of pop's/splurts, slightly deeper tone with just a louder version of what I had before. Isn't too loud on idle to wake the neighbours, but the pop's and splurts have turned a few heads. I want to get it warm and try it with the roof down, but this weather (thick fog and ice) hasn't let me do this yet. I should have a better write up at the end of the week as I've got some time off now.

My face looked like this when I drove into work this morning :D

Very nice, great exhausts -very well made. I had race version with the 83mm (looks like you got the 83mm too?) tips on my last M3. Epic noise but ended up changing it for a Larini Clubsport.

I'm sure you'll love it - the sound for 5 mins after a cold start on these is brilliant!

Should have left them off :D

:D

Might be the angle of the video but the tips look offset to the inside of the recesses on the new one.

Agree with you, the new backboxes sit slightly lower. If you take a look at the design of the stock exhaust, the tips come out of the middle whereas the Eisenmann they come right at the bottom which doesn't help, but does him most of the can from view. From standing height it's not noticeable, but being anal I have picked up on it.

MASSIVE SWEARY IN THE LAST VIDEO

Jealous

I thought I managed to edit it out, I didn't realise he was down by the exhaust when I revved.... so when they talked to each other, I thought he said rev it...poor guy got deafened!

EDIT - Have amended the link to cut out the nasty swearing at the end from deaf guy ;)

I had the top down on Saturday! Was totally worth it.

Stop being a girl!

Oh, and I'll take two!

Looks nice - can't tell what it sounds like as the last video is mullered for me.

Personally I wouldn't change the backboxes without doing the lot. Despite having a chavvy loud exhaust, I probably wouldn't have it if it wasn't necessary for performance gains.

Maybe it's just me but I've never changed an exhaust any further down than turbo back (for the Evo) or from the block back for the Civic.

Especially as doesn't the S54 engine have that nasty rasp inducing centre section?

I do however appreciate the cost of a full system.

In any case, it sounds nice and I hope you enjoy it.

Love the exhausts, they look and sound perfect.

I want a pair on the 5, but I'm too tight to pay £1500+ squid. I'll have to settle for Supersprint or maybe even Hayward & Scott back boxes.

Sounds good, was wondering where you'd got to recently as you hadn't been very active.

Is it me or is the left one not sitting as straight as it could be, from the last video?

Brilliant. I got my Eisenmann Sport backbox last month and it's just fantastic.
I'd have gone for the Race if it wasn't for the fact it's illegal in Belgium

I'm surprised you fitted it yourself, the place I bought it from fitted it for free, but it was £600..
However, he spent AGES getting it perfect, including rewelding the bracket. Worth every penny.

Enjoy it, it'll get progressively louder in the first ~1500 miles :D
