Time to ban "Worst X thread ever..."

I'd never even heard of 4chan before becoming a member here (I still haven't googled it) I thought it was shorthand for Channel 4 to begin with, or really paid much attention to Memes outside of Richard Dawkins research anyway.

Can we ban all these "Ban ____" threads and posts?

Seriously - Sometimes I think if some members had it all their way we'd have nothing to talk about ¬_¬'

This thread is about a different saying, but yeah its very similar to that.

Not really, if you read past page 3 or so it turns into a pretty decent debate about GD memes in general.

I get what the OP is saying but I think it's better to leave these things to die organically as a result of GD community opinion and response rather than moderator intervention.

Posting the stupid meme liners because they aren't clever enough to come up with something funny themselves, isn't having something to talk about.

Polite warning in advance :)

No trolling. Only constructive. We all have opinions however no one likes to feed the troll so do not do it.

Is this directed at me, or people using the phrase?

If directed at me, im just trying to find out other peoples opinions on the matter :)

Sorry if this is considered spam :(

Granted I think they're overused sometimes - But I think in certain cases they can be funny and push a thread forward.

As mentioned in a few posts above me, I think they should be allowed to die naturally rather than the moderators start "banning" things.

Or that we could all accept that it's nothing more than spam?

.... and maybe it's not, who decides, where do you stop? It will fade away only to be replaced by something else. It's not the end of the world as we know and so easily ignored.

yep the only reason they get abused so much is because everyone moves on the last thing that was banned so everyone starts using the new thing at once rather than just slowly dying.

While I'm not defended memes, creating posts asking to ban them is just adding fuel to the fire. As previously suggested, it'll die a death in due course.

Memes like these will not die naturally, and if they did it would be a long time. It's pretty much spam as it's not clever/funny at most times and doesn't even contribute to the thread.

If something like this is allowed to keep going, then I suggest they unban all the other memes.

It's no worse than someone just posting an emoticon in reply. Should we have those banned too?

*edit too late

it's not funny but to be honest, it's not funny because we've banned everything else. Honestly how many sayings do you think the mods will ban before the faq is ridiculously long?

If we want to play it like this, I suggest we have a 10 character minimum for posts. Anything that doesn't contribute should be deleted.
