I'm looking to get a new board & hard drive/DVD drives. The problem i think i might have is that all of these have IDE connectors.

can anyone recommend good coverters to the sata connectors?

Also would this cause any issue's? (apart from being slow!)

Hi there,

Sorry but I don't understand, are you planning to upgrade your motherboard and use old IDE drives or are you planning to get new DVD and Hard disk drives but use an old IDE board?

If you mean power, see Stu's post. If you mean can you get adaptors for IDE > SATA as a simple plug, then no, they're fundamentally different technologies. Sell the old, buy new!

Sorry for not being clear....

I want to use both my old hard drives & DVD drive in a new motherboard. can this be done at all?

Indeed.

Most modern boards have one IDE plug still there, so that should be enough for two devices -right?

How many IDE drives are you wanting to plug in?

Just one hard drive & 1 DVD, I take it both of these could be connected via the same cable?

dont do this, the harddrive will slow down to the same transfer speed as the DVD drive, making performance crap.

a SATA dvd buner is £11
