Is my friend stupid?

His parents bought the car and paid for his insurance. He obviously doesn't work or works very little so can't afford a few quid I'm fuel.

The parents are the stupid ones here.

Does his Mum still iron his jeans?

I don't know, but he can't eat without making a mess.

I mean fair enough if he is rich and can afford it, but him saying he is going to keep it as his primary car for 10 years!
also saying he is average and not well off shows that he is living in his own dream world sometimes.

I know loads of people that buy there daughter and son each a brand new car ...

Surely a more sensible option would have been for his parents to buy him a nice car (say a few years old) for £5000 and then give him the other £5000 to put fuel in it, MOT it, service it, repair it e.t.c.?

Yep, give a young lad 5 grand and tell him to spend it sensibly on running a car for a few years...... That can only go well!

Kids need to learn to work for themselves. Can't be arsed to work? No car for you then!

Well at least he would be able to put petrol in it! My plan i still far better than just buying a young lad a brand new car when he has no means to run the thing..

By the way i agree with you. The parents just shouldnt buy him a car at all :p. At least not anything decent.
