I've got a 42PX80, and want to connect my pc (nearby, <5m) to it so I can then run mediaportal or xbmc or similar and use it like a HTPC.

Currently my graphics card only has a DVI and VGA port, with the DVI being connected to my 1080P monitor on my desk.

Seeing as the PX80 native res is 1024x768, what's the best way to connect it to the PC?

1) Connect it via VGA
2) Connect it via DVI and then use VGA for the monitor
3) Get a new graphics card that has 2xDVI/HDMI (needs to be AGP though)

I'll be streaming various media (mainly 720p HD stuff) so really don't want to sacrifice much quality.

Sound will go to my amp via optical cable incase anyone's wondering.

Thanks for any input :)

whats on the back of the pc? if it has hdmi get a dvi - hdmi adaptor/cable.
does your amp have hdmi in and out?

PC gfx card only has DVI and VGA out, with my monitor connected via DVI. Amp does indeed have multiple HDMI inputs and 1 out.

What about a splitter, DVI to DVI+HDMI? Good idea?

Yeah I was thinking that, but I've now bought a VGA and optical cable for £11 so will see how that looks (for £11 it's not a big loss if it doesn't work out).

What about DVI to DVI+HDMI splitters? Are they any good or do you tend to loose quality?
