HTC Desire HD (Ace)

All modern HTC phones (along with other brands) use MicroUSB and will continue to do so as Mini USB is phased out from being the common connection for mobile devices!

Thanks. I ask because I was looking at an in-car charger and the Desire HD charger is more expensive than the vanilla Desire. I had a feeling they'd be using the same socket on the phone itself.

Having done a bit more digging, it seems that the 1800mAh battery may have been scrapped, which will be a bit of a bummer. To be fair, a 1500mAh will probably do the job since my concern is having to stick the phone on charge before bed time. An extra hour or two from a good 1500 would surely ensure this is not a problem.

My bro picked up a 1600mah battery and he is disappointed with it says it barely makes any difference, I wonder if they aren't as good quality or something.

That was what I susspected.

I dare say there will be plenty of iffy far east jobbys on the bay, but you might as well open the window and chuch £20 out as get one of thm.
I'm going to wait and see if htc so something with a bigger capacitym no point in buying something that won't make any difference.

Hmm, I'm having battery problems with my phone.

First day I charge it up from the mains to 100% no problem before turning it on. Let it run down to 0 and then I left it to charge from my computer via USB overnight.

Wake up in the morning (7 hours later) and it's only charged to 55%, which seems a little slow to me.

In the days since I've plugged it into the mians instead but I woke up this morning and it was at 7% despite it still saying charging!! (it was at 40% ish when I went to bed)

Anyone else had anything like this with the supplied cables or have I got a faulty cable/phone?

It seems to charge fine sometimes so I'm not sure what is going on.

Stick to OEM, your lucky if a higher mAh battery designed to fit in the standard bay, even ones from branded third parties like Andida or Mugen, will be as good as the OEM.

Avoid the bay, loads of re-badged rubbish not even close to the printed value.

So i got my DHD yesterday, loving it so far, it seems like there is so much more to do on it, than on the iphone

Couple of questions tho,
When browsing the gallery for photos, is there a way to change the thumbnail size so you can get more on screen? ive got 1600 photos on there and it takes ages to scroll through, and on the iphone it was pretty quick because the thumbnails were smaller.

Also, is there a way to use the iphone headphones with the DHD? the sound works fine, but the volume control doesn't work. Also i installed winamp, but decided to use the default music player, one problem with this is if you press play on the screen in the default player, but then try to pause on the headphones, winamp will start playing, and you get two songs on at once!

Thats all i can think of at the moment, im sure there will be more, but wow what a phone

How is the volume of your music when playing with headphones? Do you have to put your volume to MAX just to get average sound?

no i wouldn't say that, i didnt turn it up to max tho, ill check that on the way home, fo you

Do you know how to turn 3g on/off on android? mine keeps coming up with a G then a H

Yes, the G indicated a 3G connection, the H indicates a high speed downlink packet access connection (HSDPA), the most modern and fastest wireless connection for mobile phones such as these. It will flip between these two and sometimes even crappy Edge (E) when the quality of connection is particularly poor.

Just to say that i used the WiFi hotspot for the first time today. very handy it was too. All the power went out in my street but my laptop and my phone had full batteries. Because our internet is so crap it actually didn't even feel slower doing it through the phone. HSDPA is sweet :D

Curious what cases people have and like. I've seen a friends leather "pull-up pouch" and it looks very nice, though she has no fixed protector on her phone.

I'd just be a bit annoyed if something in my pocket scratched the screen, there are times I'm just required to carry too much in my pockets and stuff get shoved in. I do put keys in my other pocket though :)

Quick question, what does the LED on everyone's DHD do when it's plugged into the mains and turned off?

Mine is flashing irregular orange, trying to work out if it's actually charging because it won't turn on :(
