Malazan, did your graphics card not come with a DVI to VGA adapter? They usually include one in the box, i.e. this:

Then all you need is a VGA cable (male both ends). You might have one lying around, I somehow have tonnes of them.

Is the only thing you see the desktop background or can you see the taskbar/Start menu, windows etc?
What happens exactly when you play a video? Do you see the media player software with a black area where the video should be or just absolutely nothing appears at all?

Also, how did you set up dual screen? Did you use the "Nvidia control panel" and select the "dualview" option?
