Well at first not so good Black Ops was the first game i tried and was rather low FPS around 50-91 but in the low 50's.
So researched on here and found the 10.12a so installed those back into Black Ops and was better.
BFBC2 well that is one smooth game  not only was it as smooth as silk but i was seeing things i dont think i have ever seen before, so crisp and sharp and i have not seen any screen tearing so far.
Run "i know dont comment on this :)" 3Dmark 2001 @ 1920 X 1200 and got a score of 41,185 i do not know if this a good score but watching 500 + FPS was fun
I have just finished downloading 3Dmark11 so i will post back my score.
I just can not believe how smooth BFBC2 is as i was comming from a crossfire 4870's not the last word in gaming but i thought was a very good set-up and with no screen tearing wow.

Was it 10.11's you tried before hotfix? 10.12s official give me really good fps in Black Ops also that 3d Mark 2011 score seems kind of right as it's around 4800-5500 usually.

I like the card so far but only thing is the fan speed at above 45% gets annoying and the card kind of gets warm which is a shame.

Yet to try BFBC2, will in 30mins or so.

In 3dmark 2001, 1920x1200 (32 bit colour) i get 48441. I didnt changeany setting except the resolution. All CCC settings at default.

Spec in sig

wow thats good very good  i got 45,859 all at default 1200 X 1024 i think, but at 1920 X 1200 for you to get 48,000 may be i do need to look at the overclock on my CPU.

For Black OPs, if you want better frame rate I would suggest you to overclock your CPU. The game is not really graphic demanding, but it is hugely CPU bounded. Look at the frame rate of 5970 and the CPU scaling for a i7 920 at different clock speed here:

Your 6970 is getting held back by your Q9550 at just 3.2GHz in Black OPs.

Hi Marine-RX179
I will look into this, would you know what sort of overclock i could aim for not an extream overclock
Thanks

You won't get far without extra voltage, looking at 940 core or 950 if you're lucky and max out the CCC Overdrive Limits which can be overridden with MSI afterburner but with no voltage tweaking software currently it won't be worth doing yet. So 950 core aim for.

Hello RavenXXX2 by sig i see you stuck with your 480 :) have to say going by BFBC2 6970 displays an amazing image and so smooth no screen tear.
As for overclocking i did give this a go on my 4870's but never had much luck ? do i need to overclock my new GPU ?

Not really, unless you find a game that is borderline playable fps wise then there is no need to overclock unless you want to benchmark for high scores.

So if playing with v-sync enabled then anything over 2.6Ghz will give a minimum of 60fps according to that review.

So how is a Q9550 at 3.2Ghz not enough?

I'm playing Black Ops with an i3 540 at 3.6Ghz and at a resolution of 1920x1080 and running along nicely at 60fps with v-sync enabled.

What sort of minimum fps do you get in bc2 out of interest? :)

Most of the time I am around 100-140 the lowest I saw it drop was 72fps well ~couple FPS and the highest I saw was 200 it looked capped there, the FPS was always good around water ?
Every thing I was looking at just looked so detailed and solid almost a sense of it being 3D and also no visible signs of screen tear :-)
Have to say Black Ops got better yet again no screen tear but FPS would jump all over the Place, FPS in always the same part of the map would very low 30-50 FPS ? I know when the game first came out I disabled one card and black ops run very smooth always around the 80-90 FPS, so I find it hard to think it's the 3.2ghz overclock on my CPU ?

Been at work all day and now stuck in a train station trying to get home and all I want to do is PLAY SOME GAMES :-(
