ATI 6950 PSU

I really like the look of the ATI 6950, especially this one: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-147-OK

However, I fear the ATI 6950 would be really pushing my Corsair HX450w PSU to the limit alongside my power hungry quad.

Perhaps, I am being too paranoid, but I'd rather play it safe than be sorry lol.

I whacked your rig as per your sig into a psu calc and it came up with 387w (using a 6870 as they didnt have a 6950 as an option)

So you *should* be ok.

Yes, too close. I am not sure whether it's worth risking it. I know it's a modular PSU... but it's damn close for my liking. Hmm.

Do I bother paying for an 550-600w PSU to be safe or do I risk going kaboom?! hmm.

Question is, would any of you risk it?

The HD6950 2GB uses around 20W more than an HD6870 at load:

However,it seems to consume less power than either an HD4870 or HD5870 at load too.

Hence,the HX450W should be fine IMHO.

The box recommends a 500W PSU at least. The HD6950 uses less than 350W under load even when it's overclocked with an i7 at 4GHz:
