do console games ever look better than pc to you?

PC for fps - you are awful unless you use a mouse and keyboard. full stop.

PC for rts - starcraft etc.

PC for MMO - better social interaction plus patches etc

PC for graphics - much better graphics in games that aren't ported. otherwise the same or better.

PC for peripherals - best steering wheels/mice/controllers/joysticks/etc.

PC for multi purpose - gaming at a click then alt tabbing and doing something else while downloading etc.

PC for music

PC for 3d, multi monitor,

PC for game price

PC's win. In every catagory bar two imo. Simplicity and overall cost. Consoles catering for the ill informed, lazy and underfinanced..

You think?

i dont really think about the graphics so much as long as they look good and the game is good *shrug*...i dont rush to my pc to compare them.

I find gaming on a plasma with 5.1 dd surround relaxing on my sofa i seem to appreciate the whole experience rather than twiddling with some KNOBS sitting at a desk to get the tiniest bit better detail on some rock on the ground that you walk past in the game. :)

Its all about the experience for me.

So lets look at this post then...

1) You mean You suck at fps on a consol? Cause i know many people who can play FPS fine on a consol.

2) MMO ill agree with but only big MMO on pc is WOW anyway

3) Regarding ports its extremly rare for pc to get any games that arent ported which is what is letting the PC down imo

4) Why would you want to multi task on a consol their not aimed for that?

5) 3D isnt main stream yet anyway so kind of pointless point, when the current gen consols were done they werent trying to get into any 3D Market

6) Game price, Not really an issue if you chose were you buy carefuly.

Points i may of missed i agree with or too lazy to answer, I also apologise for bad grammer :P

Regarding the OP, Id read EG digital foundry comparing NFS on PC/360/PS3, PC just edged it and i mean just.

Nicely left out the cost involved in the inital outlay for a rig that is highly specced enough to be THAT much more noticably better over the current gen of consoles.

I want the best gaming experience possible from any game I play. Therefore, I'll buy the game on the platform that I think suits it best, be it PC or console. To limit myself to one platform would be silly.

Ya know, a common sense reply like that really spoils my fun reading these types of threads ;)

Art direction plays a big part to be honest. Nothing on PC rivals Uncharterererered 2.

Maybe you get bigger resolutions, smoother frame rates, more High resolution textures.

But that's not what counts.

It's just a shame not a single game that you have on your poll is worth mentioning and it's all crap that's been done a hundred times before.

Just because a console may get 1 or 2 decent games per year doesn't make it better.

Oh and I own both Uncharted 1 and 2, will buy the 3rd one as well but 1 game doesn't make up for the lack of so many titles you can find on a PC.

Yes and no.

Multiplat titles are usually downscaled in resolution and have worse graphics than their PC counterparts.

Exclusives, talking PS3 here are absolutely amazing. inFamous, Killzone 2 and Uncharted series are amazing.

Yeah you're right, you don't get any repetition in PC games at all!

There are many games where the pc version looks about 30% better but requires 500% more gpu power than a ps3 to run properly

I recently compared AC1 and 2, Just Cause 2 and Mass Effect 2's graphics on my PC (very high spec) vs my brothers Xbox 360. The difference is very noticeable overall, however if you sit back the Xbox doesn't look that bad. JC2 on the PC just looks amazing with all the trimmings turned on.

Obviously for £200 the Xbox/PS3 graphics are great and they do the job, but I will always buy games for the PC over those consoles for price, graphics and controller reasons (have the choice of x360 controller or K+M on PC).

No, not that I have seen. Every game I've seen on a PC vs Console looks better on the PC with max AA and AF settings.

Having said that it should look better when the graphics card alone costs as much as a couple of consoles.

My new graphics card cost £125 and plays everything much better than on consoles.

Anyway, I have a pc and ps3 and whilst console games can look great (uncharted 2 :)), there's no denying that pc games look better - higher resolution (much higher in most cases), double the fps and no jaggies.
