Got the wheels/cassette/tires for £350 second hand unused, which is about the same as an EX721/Pro2 wheelset without tires so I'm pretty pleased with that :)

Thanks all, and stop making fun of my carpet! It's my parents house and they seem to like it :(

Went for a ride which was fun, loads better than my old Commencal Furious, but the snow tends to make life hard.. Also my front wheel deflates slowly while riding, think there's a king in the bead that's letting air through under strain..

mistercrabb - orgasmic, there are no other words!

I went for a snowy adventure today with my Sovereign, my first outing with it:

(Phone pics so please don't moan about quality :p )

and a shot by a rather cool frozen pond!

The bike rides great, it's so refreshing being on a hardtail coming from a full sus, the acceleration is instant, and it's nice having so much trail feedback in certain situations, it's very clear when pumping the terrain gives you acceleration. The conditions were hardly perfect but the frozen ground (tractor tracks etc) gave the front forks a good work out, I'm surprised how stiff they are - hard to tell a difference between them and my e150 double clamp forks.

One thing I am most impressed with is the drivetrain setup, it really is completely quiet and the short cage mech shifts instantly, takes a bit of extra puff getting up the hills (30t chainring) but I'll get there..

The brakes squeal like a pig when there's no heat in them which is a little annoying (my Hopes on the Enduro are silent all the time) so I'm gonna look into that.

I'm sorely tempted to get this as a replacement for the Heckler:

I would run it in 6.5" travel mode even though it can go up to 8" and still be under 31lbs. and all for under £900

Yay or nay?

I'd probably say nay, they've been trying to sell them off cheaply for ages iirc. Sort of a jack of all trades master of none kind of frame. Try reading up on MTBR mebbe.

I thought that was more because they only have a few small size frames left and they are trying to clear stock for the release of the new One as seen below.

I think they've been on closeout for all of this year though, the fact they haven't sold is a warning to me. It might be great, I can't say I've been out hunting for reviews :)

Sidenote, I can't believe how cheap some stuff seems to sell on ebay and forums in the UK. Annoyingly I just missed out on a stupidly cheap item on ebay because I tried to snipe a last second bid and the confirm bid page slowed me down.

anyone ridden an ironhorse mk3 ? want a shorter travel bike that i can ride trails on rather than just push to the top of hills , really like the look of them and one is selling locally
