hey would 2 Gigabyte GTX460 Super OC or MSI GeForce GTX 460 HAWK give me better performance than a gtx 480 or a 5870 vapor-x oc ???? building a first ever build pc any input lads ? to many cards to choose from struggling to make up my mind:confused:

it would give you better performance, as 2x460 @800Mhz are about the speed of 5970 which is well quicker than 480.

but buying 6950 is a lot more sensible, they have twice the memory of 460 and are a lot quicker also have lower power consumption. So you can later easily add second one.

cheers for the advice m8 , dont really fancy the new ati ones not seen many gd reviews about them , what makes them better than 2 oc 460s ?

Np mate, to start with there are a few games that would slightly benefit from having more than 1 gig of memory. While 2x460 will start having some problems with that in 1-2 years time, the ati cards wont, as they have twice the memory.

ati has amazing performance in crossfire and 2x6950 is the most powerful graphics combination that won't burn a hole in neither your pc nor in your wallet. it's well ahead of single gtx580 by at least 50%. and by 30% faster than dual 460. and they overclock like hell.

on the other hand 460 are a lot cheaper, so it's your call. but I would go for single 6950 and then possibly add one more.
