Hello Everyone,
I was drooling over a M11x and decided to get my self one to replace my netbook.

Now I'm not to clear on what the best CPU to go for, I was trying to keep the price under a grand. So what is the best out of the i3 330UM & i5 520UM CPUs?

Also is the ram expansion bay on these sealed by the warranty?

I have never brought a dell but have herd a few bad things about there desktops. Any advice?

Thanks

What's the price difference between the two?

If you can afford it, get the i5 as it is the better CPU and has 4 real cores, which will be better for any games that are multi-threaded (which many more are these days).

The i3 isn't a bad CPU by any means though, and I'd imagine performance will still be very good.

Have you considered looking at the MSI gaming netbooks on OcUK? they are less than a grand and seem worth the money as the m11x may be dramatically over priced. Also look at the Dell Outlet, maybe pick up a m11x there for cheap, but it might have the old SU7300 or something cpu, so nothing spesh.

I'm sure someone could link you to the cpu comparison thingy majig, i cant remember what the website is called, but its extremely helpful :).

Goodluck

Merry Christmas :)

Thanks, I have had a quick look but there all a little too big (15.4" screens) I'm looking for something a bit smaller. Unless I was looking at the wrong place...?
Hope you have a nice Christmas too!

The intel i5 520um would be the one to go for because with turbo boost technology it will actually be 1.866Ghz when playing games that max out the CPU. The i3 330um is fixed at 1.2Ghz.

I have an M15x and find it a little big to lug around so may end up buying one of these myself.

Thanks! That was the answer I was looking for, I had a feeling there was a reason behind the low frequency.

Well looks like my mind has been made up!

Thanks for all your answers, and I hope you all have a great Christmas!
Jam out:D
