MOD 1 Test SCRAPPED!!

I have recently passed my test and i actually thought mod 1 was a good idea. It is a test to ensure you have control of the bike.. then you do the on road bit if you pass!

the U turn was the hardest aspect for me, which i nailed luckily.

I passed in July and loved the mod 1! I would love to mess around on it in non-test conditions now just for a laugh. I think Mod 1 should stay in, it demonstrates real handling ability, if you can't do a small swerve at 30mph you shouldn't even be sat on the bike in my opinion.

So much wasted money for something that is going to last only 2 years. Someone must have made big money from all this anyway (private company) and someone usually us taxpayers paid for it.

I did 2 tests and think the whole idea was ridicules, especially the dangerous swerve part which I found easy but it's not easy for everyone.

This will also be good as it'll should get cheaper to do bike licence and more people might actually go for it.

It was crazy building those test centres so the test could be conducted at 31mph in the first place. I'm guessing it was to fall into line with the rest of Europe using kph?

As usual, we had a great idea that was poorly implemented. The test itself is a really good idea. Making people journey a long way to an expensive, specifically designed test centre to take it isn't.

I live in west London and travelled to Enfield (!) to do mine. I'm told that some in Scotland had a >100 mile round trip to do it.

This ticked me off more than anything else. And i passed my test the day before this came in.

Good to hear but plan to do my test next year so still have to do it. I had a go with my instructor when I redid my CBT and seemed quite easy.

Yep, a classic case of Labour stupidity and a big waste of taxpayers money.

Having passed both Mod 1 and Mod 2 I think it is great way for people to do a test.

The case with people falling off doing the swerve part of the test is a bit mad, if you can't swerve on a bike you shouldn't be riding! FullSTOP!

It also save's time on the road where you can actually make progress rather than having to look for a safe spot to do all the things you now need to do from mod 1.

Crazy if you ask me!
