I'm going to do the Tour Divide, TD goes from Banff to the Mexican border. The original Great Divide is a USA border to border.

The scenery in the Canadian section is some of the best on the continent. The Flathead Valley also has the highest concentration of grizzlies

Am I right in thinking thats 20 sections of, on average, nearly 138 miles each ?? :o

Divide racers must not only be conditioned to endure weeks of consecutive 16+ hour days in the saddle, they need to bring other skills to the trail. The route is unmarked and circuitous, requiring navigational acumen. It travels through remote backcountry with Grizzly and Mountain Lion density. Intervals between services are frequently 100+ miles and demand calculated food/water resupply - or else. Riders must also find shelter each night or bivouac trailside. In minutes the Rockies' dynamic mountain weather can wreak havoc on route surfaces, skewing even the most near-term travel projections. And, of course, it wouldn't be a grand tour without the geopolitics of negotiating the, albeit lower-security, international border crossing at Port of Roosville, Montana.

Bloody 'ell.... Thats like going from John O'Groats to Lands End about 3 times  (minus the Lions, Tigers and Bears.. Oh My...:p) Though we would have dodgy moments in Glasgow/Manchester/Birmingham etc with the chavs:p

canfield hasnt hear dof hydroforming then.....

wouldnt buy any frame without hf now after seeing how "clean" the frame looks in comparison to those monstrosaties

That Sherry was meant for Christmas dinner!

:p

The frame Ichabod Crane posted is a prototype. lot's of hydroforming there. I quite like the look of them. Each to there own. :)

Granted the Canfields are not the best looking, but hydroforming has nothing on this beauty!

First bike both you and I agree on Ichabald ... more to the point, the first time that you are correct. I love that Nikolai!

ps: that Canfield is over Hydro'd but the looks of it can easily be fixed with one of these

It's a stage race. But there's only one stage and it's 2745 miles long :p

You ride it like a time trial, start and the clock doesn't stop until you reach the Mexican border, eating, finding water and sleeping wherever you can along the route.

That's pretty impressive for anyone that does it.... Will you be using a compatible GPS tracker so we can watch your progress on the site ?? :)

20% off boardman bikes at Halfords just now - some serious good deals there.

2011 bikes due in soon so guessing they are cleaning out the existing stock but I'm seriously having the withhold from purchasing one just now with that sort of discount.

Take the pads out and look. I'm not going near superstar pads. Heard stories of them falling apart. Buy cheap buy twice.

really? i heard they were good.

edit: i had a look at some reviews and they fall apart in the wet.

also would you buy their flat pedals i'm thinking of buying some
