Considering a car change in March-April next year and looking to spend upto 45k

Right I am contemplating a car change, I just want to try something else, because I won't deny the EVO is bloody fantastic and in all honesty I probably won't find a faster A-B car, but I like change. End of the day lots of EVO X's about and if I miss it so bad finding another will be a doddle.

So at the moment my critera is:-

  • Must cost sub £45,000
  • Be no older than 6yr old or 50,000 miles
  • Sub 5s 0-60mph and around 10s 0-100mph or quicker
  • Everyday car, 2 seats is fine
  • Not a convertible, must have a roof!
  • Has to be 4WD or RWD
  • Good driver feedback and handling
  • Not be a depreciation bomb, so nothing brand new
  • Manual or SMG style transmission (NO AUTO's)


If I could afford it right now, I'd be buying an Audi R8, I simply adore them but I'd have to stretch to 55k and I am not willing to do that as my intentions are too put 25k cash against the car and the remainder on finance at the best deal I can get. I can accept 20k finance as its £450ish a month and I have no other loans/credit cards etc. to pay, but irrelevent if I can afford more or not I just don't want to be dishing out more than £500 a month on finance as I like having plenty of spare income to do as I wish with.


So I am open to recommendations, at the moment my shortlist is:-

  • 2006-2007 sub 20k mileage Aston Martin V8 4.3 Vantage or a Prodrive version
  • 2009-2010 Audi TT RS (Can these be tuned, how good is the 4WD compared to the EVO, or how does it compare to the EVO)
  • 2005-2007 Corvette Z06 :D :D :D
  • 1999-2000 Ferrari 360 F1 (I think this is a bad idea, they are old and not suitable everyday car)
  • 2009 Lotus Evora
  • Maybe an AMG or fast Merc, but I really know of nothing, only one I like is Black Edition, they cost twice my budget :(
  • 2009 UK Nissan GTR R35 (Does not excite me and cost a fortune to run, but its easily quickest here)
  • 2006-2007 Porsche 997 C2S / C4S (Really unsure about the it always feelin like its gonna kill me engine in boot syndrome)
  • TVR Sagaris (Epic looks, epic speed but do they handle and do they break every 5 minutes)


Thats my shortlist, its a mine field. There are 2-3 I can probably write straight off. Favourits so far is the Aston, TT RS and possibly Z06.

or how about a noble m12 even a m400 at this price

or how about an arial atom and a 10k town car?

997 all the way. But no need to spend 45k, i would spend 35 and have some change.
 
Sagaris. It's something truly special and even if you run it for 6 months you'll be able to say you did. The Titanio Grigio one for sale at Racing Green has just had a rebuild and should not break. Electrical gremlins and other bits though.. can't say for definite ;)

Sagaris I like, zero depreciation more or less, but can it be used as an everyday car or would it be a pain in the ass?
 
Seriously if you are dripping the cash difference up, have a look at a 35k 997, try and get a long weekend with one, you dont need to spend more than that.

Dont listen to them rear drive rear engine rumours you got to drive like a **** to bin one.

If you must drive like a **** buy a C4s.

Its not lack of power in the GTR thats the issue, its just the way it drives, its too easy and it also empties your wallet extremely fast whilst at it......

M400, no for me I don't see it as an everyday car, I forsee in Winter it would just freez solid and break.

Yeah true what you say and you could find me a bargain of one. ;)

On 997 front I love the looks (with aerokit), good steering feedback, but I can't put what it is but something just aint making me excited to buy one. :(

Too old, can respect their epic power and I'd take a 997 turbo anyday (out of my price range), but I feel a 996 turbo is a bit too dated and I think most guys with Porsche experience will agree with me that a 997 C2S / C4S would be a better drive than a 996 Turbo even though a tad slower.

No jokes the next 997 i get you come and borrow it for a week, then see if you dont buy one.

I know i sound like a ****er but iv had them all and at that money there is nothing comes close for an every day car.
