just thought i would post some pics of our trip to new york last week.
we went on thurs for 4 nights coming back monday.
bit cold on the way over, it went up to -70.
dinner time
stayed and the W hotel Times square.

we were only on the 11th floor, would have liked to be higher and maybe have a better view but this is what we saw from the window.
we had a proper blind so it didnt shine in the room at night.
some water?
a condom?
first night was ruined because the airline decided not to send my gfs suitcase so she was upset till she got it. the delivered it around 4am the next morning but we did get 100 Euros compensation which equated to a free trip up the empire state.
first full day so we tried to see as much as we could.
we were on 47th steet so we went up.
first stop was the natural history museum, which we were only really bothered about seeing the dinosaurs
full size group of elephants i think you see in the night at the museum film.
and ofcourse
after leaving there we went back down through central park.
there was a huge row of benches which all had messages on them.
we made our way to central park zoo
there was no lion, zebra, hippo or giraffe though.
plenty of these around. quite a few parked down the avenue that runs past central park.
after that we went east to trump tower and the UN
i couldnt get a proper picture of the UN as the security man was quite large.
2nd day we had planned to go downtown to the friends house and the sex in the city steps.
turns out it was quite a walk from 47th to 4th.
we stopped at a dinner on the way down which turns out to be a bad move as it gave me food poisoning!
but before that kicked in we did get to the street with the friends house but we wernt sure which one it was so we just had a guess.
few streets down was the sex in the city steps were one of them lives or something. my gf new all about it and was more excited to see this than any other thing.
so i took this oppertunity to propose.
which my gf was quite pleased about.
unfortunatly people lived in the house that the steps belong to and wernt happy about all the tourism there so wernt allowing people to take pictures.
after the phone calls home etc and my fiancee had calmed down we went on to the empire state.
along the way we got to a point were there were quite a lot of people taking pictures of something behind us. so we turned around and there was...
after a bit more walking we saw the empire state.
there were loads of people all around it trying to sell tickets to go on the 'sky ride' which ment you saw a 25 mins show and missed a '1 hour 45' queue just to go up. we went on it. the 25 min show turned out to be a 25 min Virtual reality type thing were all your seats moved about and you flew around new york being told what everything is by Kevin Bacon.
this partnered with the 'sunny side up' ( not actually cooked proper) eggs i had for breakfast got me fealing quite sick.
eventually got to the top after quite a lot of queueing for lifts.
decided to go shopping after that so we headed to 57th on 5th avenue to the apple shop which was so crowded there was a queue to get in. eventually we did and i was about to purchase a macbook when i suddenly felt quite sick. i signaled that we needed to make a sharp exit. stayed outside for a few mins hoping the fresh air would help but it didnt so we headed back to the hotel as quick as we could. got there just in time for me to step in the bathroom and puke up breakfast and keep puking up 'nothingness' for the next 4 hours.
we missed the next day as i couldnt get out of bed. i sent my gf off on her own to get me some medicine and see some of the city as i didnt want to ruin the trip for her too.
she did and found...
the rockefeller xmas tree and ice skating.
skip to monday and the medicine had worked enough for me to get out of bed and head back to 57th on 5th to start our shopping. we only had till 12pm then we had to head to the airport. we managed to spend about $3500 in 2.5 hours.
i got a macbook she got a mulberry hand bag and some bracelets from links of london.
we then spent the rest of the day being delayed and flying home which, fealing how i was, was glad to be doing.
