Merry xmas everyone,

Im wondering if anyone can help me out, my parents are looking for a new machine and i cant bring myself to take them to pc world or anywhere like that cos imo you just get ripped off and the crap they put on there machines these days well i dont even wanna go there.

Im thinking of building them one instead but would just like some advice, they will no be doing anything stress full on it at all just web surfing etc.

I have been looking at the athlon dual core cpus and at £40 they look pretty good. Im guessing a board with on board graphics would do the trick as they will have no need for a gpu at all. They already have a monitor but other than that i will need everything including windows 7.

really hope you can help

many thanks & merry xmas

You can knock off the £10 shipping if you order today = £290 and take away 5% = £275.

You get a phenom II with extra cache over the althons... would last a while for any websurfing, every day parenty type of programs and if you wanted you could take off the 2x1gb sticks of memory and add OCZ Gold 2x2gb Sticks for an extra £20 making a total of £295!

Would be a little puppy for the price, a 3.2ghz Phenom II with 4gb of DDR3... the mobo you would get would let you overclock the cpu aswell as its a black edition with unlocked multiplier all you would need to do is up the multiplier. Could have your self a 4ghz (ish) dual core Cpu with level 3 cache, 4gb of ram in a nice little setup. Would out do most £500+ systems from the high street!

Thanks so much for that mate!! I cant stand going to the high street and getting ripped off with a £500+ when you can buy a more powerfull one cheaper and have the pleasure of building it yourself :D

Like the choice of case to buddy, with a 500w PSU thats a steal, Really cant decide on the cpu tho the athlon is cheaper and would suit there needs i guess, i do love the PII cpu's and it looks like the x2 could be unlocked and OC nicely but my parents wont be overclocking lol

Stulid- Thanks so much for your input i will look at wat everyone has suggested and take a punt

Aretenon- Thanks as well mate for your advice really appreciate it

Thanks everyone
