Recommend me a game from Steam this christmas please!

Hi. I've got some free time over xmas so was wondering you guys could recommend me a game or two!

Basically in my past i've liked games like this the most.

Mario (just love the fantasy and big story)
Shoot em ups (the usual like half life etc but I don't like scary games too much i'm a wimp lol)
Racing Games (NFSU, GRID, TDU etc)
Gears Of War

Bit random I know. I basically want something to occupy me with cheap and good graphics, any ideas guys?

Hi I have not played it myself but maybe borderlands would suit you? It is FPS/RPG meant to be great game very long also can coop online, has that fantasy would.

Or Check out some reviews, or Fallout 3 & New Vegas another great RPG only single player thow but has massive world lots to explore.

As for racing game check out the Thread burnout Paradise for free great game open world and its free!

+1 to this used to love the old monkey island games and my nephew plays the in the steam offer and absolutely loves it! great games!

Flatout and Batman on steam the indie packs might be worth a look for you too. The kids pack seems to have classic style platformers Toki tori looks like dizzy egg kind of gameplay. There's also the emulator route you could look at if you wanted to play old games.

I had this problem too. There's a problem in the opening intro, do do with sound. I disabled audio in the sound/playback devices applet for the first run, which got the game to start up the first time. Once the game had properly started, and I had driven a car, I quit, re-enabled sound, and was able to play without crashes.
