Steam christmas sale 2010... *twitch*

Just spent 30 frustrating minutes trying to work out how the hell to play X3: Terran Conflict....did they get the flipping janitor to write the 'tutorial' for this? It asked me to shoot some junk but the ship I'm in doesn't seem to have weapons (press ctrl to fire, ctrl does.....nothing)

Really thought this would be my kind of game but it seems utterly impenetrable :(

It has one of the largest learning curves of any game, but is well worth the effort. There is a thread around here somewhere for it and many FAQs on the official forums - the community is also very helpful over there.

As for other comments on the Steam servers, they are always slow for a few hours after the deals come out. Be patient, they are usually very fast.

Quick question, is cities xl worth £4.37?

How well would an AMD X2 4400 (2.3ghz) , 2gb RAM , and a 3850 pro 512mb play BC2? Just noticed it's on at £6.80.

Also could someone tell me how big the download is?

Your 3850 gets 40fps here at 1680x1050, albeit with a core i7.

Your CPU may be a little weak, the game does run better on quad cores as it uses all the cores. I expect it would probably be playable if you used low details and/or a lower resolution.

My BC2 folder in Steam is 8.5GB.

I'll give it another bash tomorrow. Really frustrates me when they make the learning curve so steep for a game. They've gone to all that effort to make the game but have made it so hard to learn!!

It's a very steep learning curve but such a deep game once you get into it, and so many different ways to play it. :) I don't think I've fired a shot on my save game. :p

Stick with it! :)

Cheers for pointing that out. :) I've been on the wall about getting Cities 2011, but I think I'll go for this and see how it is at that price.

Hey would like to know what you think of Cities XL, been pondering it myself after trying City Life a few years back.

I read nothing but bad things about it. I think its broke beyond patching.
I recall buyers were offered a discount on Cities XL2011.

It only ever uses one core so once your city gets to a large size performance drops of a cliff.

For all those people getting slow download speeds check which server you are using in the Settings.

I'm on the Manchester one and MW2 + All F.E.A.R. games are currently saturating my connection (about 640KB/s) :)

This. I get lousy speeds on the UK servers but I change steam to Germany, Poland or Sweden and I get 5mb/s on my virgin broadband.

Just bought AI War: Fleet Command in the steam sale, its the indie game for today at £1.80.

Anyone play? I gather its you vs AI, is it any good?

Just switched to the Manchester servers and im getting a steady 380kb/s not maxing out my usual 460 but at least its not doing what the London servers were doing (fluctuating speeds from 380 to 3kb/s).

For those who can't even get their files to authenticate.

Change the servers to belgium until the files start to download then switch to Manchester. Worked for me as all I was getting was "servers are currently busy".

Manchester servers faster cause northerners are too poor to buy games, therefore less people downloading off their servers?
