Edit : Oh and the Mayan calendar has 360 days. It doesn't predict an apocalypse, it just stops in 2012, I would guess because they hadn't planned so many centuries ahead. The Mayans used several different calendars. The Mayan long count calendar has a little under 2 million days. It doesn't stop in 2012 - there are references to dates more than 2000 years later than that carved on Mayan stone pillars. It's a combination of Mayan religion and the standard Mayan format for recording dates. In the same way, using a 6-digit base 10 format for counting days since the birth of Jesus would result in a cycle ending in 2737, i.e. thend end of day 999999.

Swine flu will mutate and become exceptionally deadly like the Spanish flu of 1918 which affected 500 million people and wipe most of the globe out :)

That would be interesting, i think I would prefer something more active though, like Iran or north Korea firing a nuke and the us retaliating in kind and then all hell breaking loose. Or a zombie apocalypse.

2012 is the year the large hadron collider goes out of control and can't be shut down.
Our planet will slowly transform into a large robot and go around trashing the rest of the solar system.
We will have to work inside the robot planet as slaves.

There's credible evidence for this.

Regardless, over the next year I'll be getting a lovely brand spanking new limousine and I'll have perfected my best John Cusack impression..of impersonating Superman.

I'll be fine. I'm sure I'll find a plane lying around somewhere..
