so im spending £50 a month on sky sd I mainly watch the sports (every premierleague game)
yes SD not hd.

but I got chatting to my neighbour who said he is paying £70 a month.

I think £50 is way too much and will look to get it reduced
but £70 a month - is that a living luxury that is a want or a need?

do you feel the price of your sky subscription is fully warranted?

It's possible he pays £70 per month as he may have 2 multiroom boxes or he might have broadband and line rental. Top Sky Package is currently £51 without HD or anything else. if you mainly watch sports, get the movies and a few mixes taken off.

We pay around £44 I think. The cap was £40, but they recently upped the package prices.

I personally don't think it's worth it at all. I keep telling my dad to cancel at least some of the stuff we never watch or the HD pack or something, but he says he likes HD even though we basically watch BBCHD and C4HD which are free anyway!

I don't watch sport and I have Blu-Rays / Lovefilm for movies so my subscription consists of a few mixes and HD. I don't think it's too expensive at all (not that I'd say no to it being cheaper), it's almost worth it just for FX HD.

If I followed a sport with any sort of interest then I'd probably consider the cost to watch them in HD a bargain when the alternative is a lot of travelling and match tickets.

Depends what your subscription is you need to realise aswell if your spending that much your probably better off getting sky world because it works out nearly 15 quid cheaper.

Depends on your viewing for me I have 3 mix, espn, sports and hd think it's about £60 for me.

I watch American football and lacrosse so espn is vital to me , sky sports not so much.
Will be cancelling sky sports in feb at the end of the NFL season but keep everything else.

I don't think it's too expensive really for your average viewer (ie those that love soccer)but for someone like me ss pack is a joke given I have it just to watch 3 hours on it a week.....which is why next season I will not pick up sports again unless they offer me something good as il just go NFL game pass instead and at least know that I can watch my team every week.

well my problem is ESPN as well

currently it costs me £9 a month but reading this I am contemplating this...
I mainly need sky for sports football mainly and ufc although I don't tend to watch this live if u get my drift

just rang em up and got 30% off of my bill for next 6 months. paying around £40 a month now and when I drop ESPN it'll be £31 - I can pay that

result I'd say! def worth a ring then guys.

I personally can't stand watching someone not live especially my sports , sounds a bit pedantic but I think there's a lot to be said by being part of the moment when watching stuff live as it happens.

I think espn is probably one of the most worthwhile subs there is....they have so many sports on there across 3 channels, there hd is superb and they generally have their programming down to a tee,
the only thing I don't like is espn America and the lack of ads so you get the promos over and over again but even now they are slowly adding adds into the mix.

I pay about £50 odd pounds as well but i have HD on my sub...i have all the channels except for the movies as most of them ive seen and they just keep repeating the same movies over and over again.

Is it too expensive?? **** yes but seeing as sky are the only ones, Virgin do cable...theres not much that can be done as they have the monopoly in the market...only thing you can do is to reduce the sub by taking certain packages off.

Sky TV subscription is overpriced but that’s what you get in a country what’s obsessed with sports mainly football. That’s where Sky has got most viewers by the balls.

For those who are paying the high prices, have you recently looked through all your Sky channels and noticed the channels you never watched or even knew they existed but yet you are paying for them??? Especially the channels which have such poor TV quality, it looks like they are streaming their programs directly from YouTube. Showcase TV being a good example.

I pay the minimum for my Sky package, I was given a Sky HD box from a friend 2 months ago because they moved house. A few days ago Sky called me and offered free Sky HD for 5 months. Best thing Sky has ever done for me, as I’ve been a subscriber for over 10 years and all they do it put up the prices. After the 5 months, I’m cancelling Sky completely and moving to Virgin, at least then I am paying for channels I actually do watch.

Can't say I have much to complain about were around £70 a month for full package HD and bb and phone pretty good value in my eyes

depends what you want from them really..

we give sky 40/month but that includes unlimited bb and line retal. going via another company would have been much more (no fibre)

Dad cancelled ours because we were paying almost the same for SD with sky sports as our next door neighbours were paying for sky+HD multiroom with sports and movies. They refused to give us the same deal so he told them to shove off.

I think everyone would love to see sky cheaper...

But........................

look at all the great movies and other stuff you get for only about £12.50 per week..

I would have pay about £12 to rent out only three movies from my local blockbuster,
plus paying for car fuel & wear/tear to drive there & back twice for each movie.Plus all the hassle of having to out and pick them up and return them..

If you put it that way it's not so bad. They are repeats mainly! Everyone is paying £20+ a month regardless of what base package your on and they have millions of customers..... doesn't take a genuious to work out they making mega profits.

The repeats don't really bother me as most the movies i watch are either in the sky anytime list or i recorded them at an early time..

It very rare i watch any movies by choosing them striaght out of the TV channel listings as anything i want watch out them has normally already started ages before..
Right now there 25 HD movies in my anytime list and i watched 6 of them...

I still don't think it's a resonable price that they are charging. With the VAT increase shortly people are going to be paying more. Might not be much but on a whole it's a fortune!!!
