Multiple stores in the same shopping centre

Ahoy everybody,

I was walking through Lakeside shopping centre today, and saw 2 Game stores, 2 HMVs and 2 02 stores.

I can't understand why they would do this, I mean the main HMV store isn't even that busy so why get another unit?

It's a pain in the arse to find some shops in some shopping centres hence they have 2 to increase profit

I've never understood this either. There's 2 JDs in Lakeside as well I think. And 2 Orange shops, or there was when I worked there. Weird.

In fairness the big HMV, when I worked there, did get really busy at times. There was only one then though.

There are 2 O2 shops in the metrocentre. To be fair, the place is massive.

Theres 2 GAME as well in the Telford shopping centre practically round the corner from each other.

Its crazy, I went along the bottom floor, then it was the same shops 50% of the time on the top floor

Middlesbrough town centre has about 7 (SEVEN!!!) Greggs.

there used to be 3 games in nottingham during the 90s all fairly close to each other

I can shed a little light on that one, my dad works for them.

Their biggest market is the lunchtime rush. They've worked out people will only walk so far to get lunch due to only getting 30 minute lunch breaks or whatever.

So they have them all over the town centre so everybody in town is only a 5 / 10 minute walk away. Leeds is the same - they have 14 stores in the Leeds City Centre Area

I suspect in those two examples one of the HMV stores is an ex-Zavvi, and one of the Game's is an ex-Electronics Boutique.

That was going to be my suggestion too, we have similar with 2 Games in out town centre.

Theres 4 JD's in Birmingham city centre, all about 30 seconds to a minute away from eachother!

Never though about it like that. There are a total of 3 greggs on king street in south shields (2 are within 1 door of each other!), and another 1 around the corner. A total of at least 5 in the town. Could be more!

In the trafford centre there are 3 game stores. All within 100m from each other, all under the same roof...and IIRC the same floor.
