Dissapearance isnt a bad movie at all, although it is quite long so make sure you've got a few hours. :D I've only seen the older 'eye cancer' version so far, quite a few months ago now, so looking forward to watching it in better quality soon.

As I understand even the version out there right now isn't the best release, as the guys had to work off a shared copy/similar, rather than thier own private encode and are planning to put out another version in future.
I was going to mention it the other day, but I figured you guys would probably have seen/heard already, or at least would see it any time soon without my mention, given how much press Haruhi gets! :)

Took a break from Angelic Layer yesterday and watched Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru :eek: God that one girl is UGLY,took a few mins to realise it was a girl and not a guy lol
I bet the Seiyu who got that gig was not happy,i mean being remembered for voicing that ugly a character can`t be much fun
Way over the top ugliness

Well the version i saw was near perfect, i didn't want to subject myself to the eye cancer version so had to wait almost a year for this one to appear. Well worth it IMO. I would rather they do a series of movies then more TV series to be frank, one novel per year would have been good

Lol i didn't realise at first either.

I thought it was a fun little series. Watching Hotori walk from one disaster to another gave a fair few laughs :p. I've got the ending song in my head as well, it's pretty catchy for some reason.
 
Watched the whole 51 eps of Kiba in 2 maybe 3 days. Almost a chore at the end but i really enjoyed the story, the characters could have looked a little better.

For some reason noah looked like kiba i think hes called from yu gi oh or at least his outfit did a bit. And maxamillion or whatever hes called from yu gi oh looked like the posh spirit caster in kiba. And the whole monsters (spirits) were a cross of yu gi oh and pokemon lol i thought.

I watched the first 3 or 4 episodes of that whilst airing before falling behind and consigning it to the backlog ... Seemed quite amusing from what I remember.
 
Just finished watching The Disappearance Of Haruhi Suzumiya.

That is a damn long film, at just over 2hr 30 mins (not counting credits).

Kyon really is the star character of the TMOHS (sorry Haruhi). it wouldn't be nearly as entertaining or enjoyable without his sarcastic wit and everyday character to relate to while watching. It makes for some great viewing.

The plot really did get a bit twisted towards the end (fitting considering it's TMOHS tbh). I think i actually shed a tear or two in the final stretch/act of the film. Some surprisingly touching and emotional moments.

I'd definitely like to see more of the novels animated in the future. It's an almost certainty that there will be more to come in the future, the franchise is such a big hit/money maker.

I'm tempted to start picking up the light novels tbh.

Watched a 2 ep ova last night called Tamayura,had a photography theme.
The op was very familiar racked my brains all evening trying to remember where I had heard it before,then Bingo over breakfast it just came to me the op from this ova is the same as the ed from kiki`s delivery service :D.Slightly different tempo

It's actually 4 episodes, depending on the version you have it may be presented as 2 double episodes. I think that the team which did this OVA are related to that which did A__a (wiki says same director).

Personally I found the OVAs to be very good with very nice animation, nice simple stories and good characters.

I'm leaving off reading the Disappearance novel until I've got around to watching the film but the other books have been quite good so far.

I would be very surprised if we don't see more Haruhi in the future
 
Good to see you enjoyed it Demon. A lot of it won't be that great if the viewer doesn't have a passing familiarity of Haruhi, which holds it back as a film in its own right, but as a fan aimed film its really pretty good. (Without endless eight for example Yuki's 'condition' wouldn't make that much sense)

As I mentioned after Unlimited Blade Works, I think Disappearance is a much better film and not just because of its runtime.
 
Well, something rather nice turned up today from the penfriend in the US who sent me the artbook and short story with Ep00 OVA last time. Took a little longer than expected as customs decided to get involved, but that was sorted fairly quickly.
A quick look at ebay told me its actually really rather valuable (one of the most expensive I've seen), and apparently a fairly early model, so I was quite surprised to say the least; apparently he had an original and re-release version so figured I'd love one as I he didnt really need more than one copy! The box looks like its been opened to check over, but Im actually kind of reluctant to take it out of the box incase it gets damaged!

In my eternal quest to promote Spice and Wolf (and to make Robgnum and Werewolf jealous :D), I thought I'd present some pictures. :)

1 Canvas (incoming)

Hmmmm...slippery slope indeed, especially as there's more DVDs, Manga and Novels to come, not to mention I'd quite like to get hold of one of the Yunomi mugs, and possibly cell artwork if I ever see them going at a level I can afford.

Take it out of the box and put it on display if theres somewhere safe you can display it. (Talking from Experience :(). Nice figures/statues/busts are there to be put on show imo :).

I'll never understand the compulsion some hardcore collectors have (Not directed/having a go at you Alex :P) to collect toys/figures/comics and keep them tucked away safe in their original box/packaging.

I think its because they want to kepe them pristine, and obviously in some cases it can increase the value.

As stated, my reason for being reluctant is I'm worried it'll get damaged, and I dont have £200 around to replace it!

PS. With all the S&W niceness, I figured it was time for a new signature (made from a 1920x1080 wallpaper I made a few months ago, if anyone wants a copy for thier own desktop I've got it uploaded)

I'm in the display it if you have a space ... Some of my figures change hands now for quite high sums, (like some of the DVDs), as they are not available anymore but are still in demand. I only have about half of my figures on display but that is purely for space reasons. I don't really see the point of having them if you are going to just keep them boxed away in a cupboard.

What is silly is I have been in places dealing with second hand merchandise in Japan which had figures which I have seen selling well for very very cheap sums in great condition ... Unfortunately a lack of shipping space at the time prevented some large purchases ....


Anyway, finished reading the translated Maria-sama ga Miteru novels this afternoon. Overall I found the books to be very good and absolutely delightful at times. Not so much things which were changed in the Anime but instead things which are expanded in the books over the series. It was amusing to see that there is basically one extra line in the novel which means that the continuity error near the end of the first valentines arc from the Anime is avoided (I.e. Why Yumi still has the gift she appears to be giving in the previous scene)

After some Anime, seen bits and pieces in the past (ghost in the shell, Street fighter).

Something with guns/violence would be cool.

I am at around the 20th `book` .Really enjoying them so making them last :)
I have never understood why people would spend large amounts of money on dolls/figures:confused:.I would rather spend on the Animé.But hey whatever floats your boat
Started the first few eps of kimi ni todake this afternoon,only got up to ep 4 last time.You probably already know but I read somewhere on-line that series 2 will start any time soon
