CPU overheating/brand new preinstalled pc from ocuk again not working

reseated the sync and fan and posting from the new PC as we speak, i hope it works when a game is actually run.

Thanks for all the help everyone.

seems to be.....if its doing all that and not bsod or freezing then id say its fine.....youd get better temps with a corsair h70 but thats a post for another time....go enjoy your new computer good man....

ps glad you chip didnt go supernova.....

Well there was paste on it, and even look spilled onto the sync, but hey, atleast its working, will look into it in the future, time to fraps while i play and see if it withstands that.

Paste will go onto the cooler.

Hm 60 idle is kinda high, at least i wouldnt like it at that.

You do have 4ghz though, which is a big overclock.

If at load it's not going over 80 your good to go, if it does, i'd be concered maybe your room temp is high, heating on?

Have you ran prime95, just for an idea of load temps?

Its 30C with the central heating on in my house and my 4Ghz i7 with Noctua NH D14 is idleing at 36C via realtemp. Your current load with what you are running should not be at 60C+

Short term, probably not but it will affect the overall life of the cpu yes, have you actually loaded it with something like prime95 or intel burn test to see how high the temps really get? I'm thinking this rig will fall over at any decent load.

No, as i mentioned earlier fairly new to PCs and not really sure what a lot of this means.
First time ive mounted a heatsync/fan myself but seems sturdy but i don't know would overclockers cheap out on the paste?
