Hi all

I have had a quick glance with the search button but couldn't find the specific, Is it possible to jailbreak the new software 4.2 yet? I have 4.1 atm which is jailbroke, if so what software could I use to do so.

Many thanks :)

eeeeep it seems a little complicated, I completely forgot about the baseband thing :( Many thanks tho for the quick response :)

Has anyone else managed to do this?

I've been waiting for on an easy untethered release since I had to update to 4.2 after bricking SpringBoard. Thankfully, a new version of Greenp0ison is apparently close:

Sorry, but the new version of Greenp0ison is tethered. If you look at some of the other articles you will see that there possible is a version coming soon for untethered.

How To Quickly Boot Your Tethered Jailbroken iPhone / iPad / iPod touch on Windows and Mac

Dammit, seems it's still gonna be ages before I can get an untethered JB like I had on 4.1. Seriously considering flogging this iPhone if I can't JB it again soon, but there aren't any better phones on the market :(

I wish Apple would just leave people to play. It will be cracked shortly I have my eyes open all over for information.

Absolutely. It really hacks me off. I really miss the freedom I had with my old Nexus One to mod anything, but Android still isn't polished enough. Apple should just make it so that any firmware can be easily unlocked and the phones modded as anyone wants. But I can't see that ever happening.

Only tethered for 4.2 at the mo, unless you have the 4.2b3 shsh saved in which case the newest b7 redsn0w can untether your 4.2/4.2.1 jb I believe. Tbh for me tethered jb isn't that much of a big deal, I rarely switch it off anyway and I have a battery charger just in case it runs low. Certainly not a deal breaker if I'm ever stuck at 4.2.1.

Do you need unlock also? If not the baseband version is completely irrelevant.
